Personally I think AI should be used to do all of the above for anyone who wants it to. Then people could in theory work on their own personal goals in the ways they value. A lot has to change for that to be a reality though it’s certainly not the path we’re on currently
Generating crap is easy. Creating art is not so easy. LLMs are not artists.
The average person doesn’t know and doesn’t care. They see AI slop and go “oh wow!”
I feel like most of the people I know don’t do any analysis of any media in their life. They just go “oh cool” and let it wash over them.

Do artists care about people who don’t care about art?
Maybe, maybe not, but people that don’t care about art have money, and artists need money to live. Probably we should focus on fixing that “need money to live” thing as a society so that everyone would have more time for art and creativity, but the people with the most money have decided to focus on other things, like replacing the artists.
Right like nothing from them is revolutionary or thought provoking or even more than mildly unexpected. It’s mid at best. And it makes sense when you have any idea how they work.

Man, if AI could fold this laundry, fill and run the dish washer, scrub the floors, and cook dinner, that’d be swell. Unfortunate everything is backwards and pushing us all to the brink of global warming extinction.
That’s what engineering, not AI, does. That’s why we have dishwashers and washing machines, all sorts of clever ways to clean floors.
