I look forward to the future hypothesis that explains why so many people right now are selfish and lacking any empathy. Microplastics? PFAS? Roundup? What will it turn out to be, I wonder.
Probably still the lead as a major contributor. The phaseout started when elder millennials were young (iirc the timing right). Its still pretty prevalent (Portland schools system as an example) in a wide range of places. And for anyone young enough that has managed to avoid it, they were likely raised by someone who was affected by it so its a learned behavior passed on kinda thing.
Yeah, social shittiness that has been passed on from generation to generation over time. Lead and other pollution might make it worse, but the vast majority seems to have a social basis.
My pet hypothesis is that long COVID has really fucked with people, behaviorally; at least when measured across large populations. Granted, there were disturbing trends before COVID, but it seems to have accelerated things afterwards.
I could be wrong. But increased systemic inflammation across an entire population can’t be good. Anecdotally, drivers appears to be more unhinged after COVID. But, that is just anecdote.
I think the Internet plus COVID is this generation’s leaded gasoline. I am just a random idiot on the internet though.
It must be lead and not a system that rewards harmful behavior and the is designed to exploit you until you break.
It’s lead man.
Well, yeah. If it were what you say, crime would be going up instead of down.
