The dry climate is ideal for keeping seeds preserved, especially when buried or in caves!

Because when something goes wrong, it’s all the more painful and regrettable. As a researcher I try to remind myself of this!

dantheclamman@lemmy.worldto Android@lemdro.id•Poll: Which abandoned Android phone features do you miss the most?English7·7 days agoSamsung had a little pressure sensitive area at the bottom of phone screens in the S9 era. It was handy and I had it set up like a hidden home button.
The S9 also had a variable aperture camera, which I feel like could have been developed a lot more.
I also miss notification LEDs. Sure, AOD mostly replaces it, but it was fun setting different colors for people, situations, etc
The Essential phone had a ceramic back that was very comfortable and cool in the hand. Though it was slippery. Another idea that could have been developed further.
The different back materials on the Moto X were very satisfying. The customization of that phone was unmatched!

They are afraid of other women under their thumb realizing the grass is greener and also pursuing such a nonconforming lifestyle. They know deep inside that their beliefs only are preserved through coercion
dantheclamman@lemmy.worldOPto politics @lemmy.world•Tennessee woman denied prenatal care for being unmarried28·16 days agoShe was not the property of a man. That’s the standard by which these people assess women
dantheclamman@lemmy.worldOPto politics @lemmy.world•Tennessee woman denied prenatal care for being unmarried27·16 days agoIt’s about propagating the religion- the lives of the people are unimportant. The religion grows by enforcing a set of customs, and anyone who doesn’t comply is threatened with ostracism or violence

The New Testament is full of warnings to treat others as you would be treated, love your neighbor, accept others as they are, abandon worldly concerns and improve yourself before judging others, etc etc. I’m just a bitter atheist pointing out the ridiculous state of their “faith”

With roaches I tend to smash with my foot and then smear them. The shearing action helps break apart nerve endings that might still be working if they were just compressed
dantheclamman@lemmy.worldto Firefox@lemmy.world•Firefox is fine. The people running it are not.2·23 days agoI get what you’re saying, but it’s suspicious how averse they are to other revenue sources. They allowed their subscription offerings to wither away over the years (I should know, I was a big enough sucker to stick with them as they let them rot with no new features), and do not take donations for their browser. They were also sitting on a billion in assets in 2023, so I’m not clear where the money has been going other than executive pay. Meanwhile, Thunderbird was given more autonomy and is thriving with record donation revenue. In fact, several projects that suffered under Mozilla found a second wind as soon as Mozilla gave up management, like Rust, Servo, Firefox OS (now KaiOS). Mozilla really should be totally reconstituted. Something is deeply wrong in the organization
