Tesla’s customer loyalty peaked in June 2024, when 73% of Tesla-owning households in the market for a new car bought another Tesla,
…
The rate bottomed out at 49.9% last March, just below the industry average,
…
Tesla’s U.S. loyalty rate has since ticked back up to 57.4% in May, the most recent month the S&P data is available, putting it back above the industry average and about the same as Toyota (7203.T), but behind Chevrolet (GM.N), and Ford (F.N).
kersploosh@sh.itjust.worksto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How would you feel about cranks (to power a machine) making a comeback?4·2 days agoVery, very rough numbers:
A recreational cyclist might average 150 Watts for 20-30 minutes.
A world tour pro cyclist would average 300-400 Watts over a few hours. And then account for the inefficiency of the generator they are spinning.
Your average person could power a laptop, but not for very long. The battery in the laptop would help manage the inevitable spikes and dips in power output, since people are not consistent engines.
There are some in the northwest US. Mount Hood and Mount Baker both have ski areas on their lower slopes. Mount Rainier has one very close to the northeast, though not directly on the mountain.
I don’t understand what the “Two Hands” sign by the customers crotch is trying to convey.

It has been worn by so many different groups over the centuries that I’m not sure how it would be interpreted.

kersploosh@sh.itjust.worksto News@lemmy.world•Police officer arrested by ICE was eligible to work, Maine Police Department says3·6 days agoAssistant Secretary of Homeland Security Tricia McLaughlin told WMTW-TV that use of E-Verify “does not absolve employers of their legal duty” to verify legal employment status.
“The Old Orchard Beach Police Department’s reckless reliance on E-Verify to justify arming an illegal alien, Jon Luke Evans, violates federal law, and does not absolve them of their failure to conduct basic background checks to verify legal status,” McLaughlin told the station.
So E-Verify is less than worthless. It provides no assurances, and running an individual through the tool could presumably bring them to ICE’s attention.

kersploosh@sh.itjust.worksto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How did you decide what you generally wanted to do with your life?3·9 days agoI started with basic goals:
-
Make enough money that I don’t have to worry about money. Not like “annual tropical vacations” kind of money, but “if my car is stolen tomorrow I can buy a new one without having to worry about covering other expenses” money.
-
Do work that is creative and technical.
-
Do work that somehow benefits society.
When I got to university I pulled up the list of majors and started highlighting ones that sounded interesting and would likely fit those goals. I ended up going into engineering. And after bouncing around in industry, for a few years, I found a niche that fits me well.
