Misgendering is free speech, which is protected from govt punishment.

Misgendering is also bullying, which is definitely not protected anywhere.

Direct harms supercede abstract harms. This ruling is bullshit.

Schools are allowed to punish students for some things that would normally be legal or go through the court system for adults.

School: “We have a no tolerance policy for bullying.”

    Panel: “Not anymore, you don’t.”

Talk about missing the point. It’s not about ‘disrupting school activities’, it’s about ‘disrupting other people’s well-being’. You know, by victimizing them.

I suppose by that logic, if somebody were to stab a classmate in the subclavian artery, clamp a hand over their mouth until they bled out and discretely shove the body under a table, that’d be fine so long as there was no ‘substantial disruption to school activities’? Get real. What kind of asinine excuse for bad behavior is that? The panel might as well have declared that it’s ‘getting caught that’s the problem, not the wrongdoing’. Next they’ll be ruling that armed robbery is fine ‘so long as there’s no screaming that’ll disrupt the peace of the neighborhood’.

Start misgendering the bullies. See how much they like it.

That’s a lovely mustache you have, sir. — to bitchy Kaylah in math class.

Let me get the door for you, miss. – to douchey David in English class.

You might get beat up but it’d be funny to see them turn purple in anger.
