I know that other Americans may tell you that they don’t want their entire country blasted into a nuclear inferno, but that’s only because they’re afraid of the FBI and ICE apprehending them for their speech. In reality, 99%… actually, 100% of Americans all deep down secretly want exactly what I want, they just don’t want to say it because they could get arrested for it and sent to Guantánamo.
Anyway, please don’t invalidate my survivor trauma by telling me anything else. Literally everybody in my country agrees with me and wants it glassed so please please please please please please please give us what we want pretty pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease!

Gives the Katyń massacre as an example of a Soviet atrocity.
Blames the U.S.S.R. for the famine of 1933.
Repeats the ‘Mongol hordes’ meme.
Repeats the accusation that the U.S.S.R. was an autocracy.
Implies that the Red Terror was wrong because ‘the bourgeoisie was indiscriminately slaughtered.’
Gripes about whataboutism. ‘Well, first of all, maybe some people do want to see less of the Union Jack. I don’t know enough about colonial history to make a judgment here…’ This is maybe the funniest line in her video, though ‘bees are very socialist, as far as I understand, and they produce delicious honey…’ is a good contender. (Very convenient of her to overlook entomophobes, too.)
Implicitly blames Stalin for Putin; says that Khrushchev did not go far enough.
Amazingly, though, she briefly conceded that the Russian people have a ‘general tendency to sweep over the horrors of Soviet history.’ It’s unusual for anticommunists to admit that ~99% of their countrymen aren’t also anticommunists. I like how she is coincidentally(?) wearing white in this video, though.
Long story short: nothing new; just the same tired crap that anticommies and the occasional theory noob have been repeating for decades. Hammer & sickle = swastika, since the Soviets slaughtered millions of innocents just ’cause. Material conditions? Context? Who gives a fuck?
Occasionally she accidentally makes a good point, like this:
‘Real Soviet history hasn’t been properly represented in Western mass media.’
But that’s it. Unless you have algophilia, you aren’t missing out on much.
You know, several weeks ago I saw a fasces on a school’s advertisement and I laughed out loud. It was clear that they were clueless about Fascist Italy’s history, but I’m not going to waste my time telling them to reconsider it, just like I am not going to waste my time asking the Nebraska Blackshirts to pick a new name, and I am not going to tell any institutions to disuse the U.S. flag. At best I might get a disingenuous ‘we appreciate your concern’ reply, but I have the life experience to figure out that they aren’t going to do jackshit.
Anticommunists whine repeatedly about the hammer and sickle because they know that their ideology is privileged enough that authorities are going to take action; it is about entitlement. Contrary to what they claim, it has very little to do with millions of deaths, otherwise they wouldn’t support an ideology like anticommunism, would they?

I have several Russian friends who are a bit like this. As an American I feel scared trying to correct them because, y’know, Americans have a reputation for being invasive and assuming they know better than anyone, even if what’s correct is correct.
