I don’t like the way he framed this. It feels like capitulation. We don’t know the motives or politics of the shooter, and frankly, it doesn’t matter: it’s not on leftists to take responsibility for it. Framing it as a “Right vs Left” thing is dangerous.

If it had been his nephew shot yesterday instead of Charlie Kirk, all the people he’s kowtowing to would still be doing a touchdown dance today, both more publicly and completely unapologetically.

we disagreed a lot, but at the end of the day we are both americans benefiting from US imperialism so we had a good beer about that. let’s not miss the forest for the trees fellow americans, we need to uphold US foreign policy because that’s what makes us wealthy.

Capitulation would imply he had any convictions beyond serving the interests of the State apparatus in the first place.

Does this fool even understand that if people like Kirk had their way anyone who looks like Cenk would be deported, enslaved, or executed?

This is a rhetorical question, of course. Everyone knows liberals don’t have self-awareness.

liberals are fascists, they aren’t on our side, they’re just puppets of the bourgeoisie that try to make them look ‘kind’ and like ‘decent people’.

“Being civilized with the people you disagree with” is what liberals expect from a civilized society and from the United States. But reality contradicts their expectation. A civilized society wouldn’t have any gun violence to begin with. They could either double down on their beliefs and “moral principles” or be pragmatic and wake up to the ugly reality.

People like this, whether intentionally as opportunism or accidentally as naivete, confuse the difference between manufactured division and real division. An example of manufactured division would be black people in the US who turn against each other instead of uniting for liberation from still-existing systemic racism; for the most part, their issue is not with each other and their energy is better spent resolving any differences so they can work together. An example of real division is the strife caused by a system of racist cops who act as judge, jury, and executioner, and kill black people at their whim; no amount of black people having a beer with cops would change this on a system level.

Adventurism isn’t going to resolve systemic issues either, but also, trying to take broad responsibility as an entire political label for alleged adventurism and then trying to patch it up with some individualist platitudes is not only strategically asinine, it makes no goddamn sense given the context of the “disagreements” that are allegedly related. I guarantee you this chucklefuck cannot explain what a “united” US is even supposed to look like, in practice. United in murdering millions in another country? United in genociding an indigenuous population? United in enslaving other human beings? United in alcoholism? United in maladjusted HOAs in suburban hellscapes? I get the sentiment behind wanting people to get along. I’m completely on board with it in theory, provided the getting along also involves agreeing on behaving in humane ways, not as colonial/imperialist monsters. It’s just not something the US region is getting to with a few beers.

It costs nothing for this joker to just stfu for once.

The problem is, Charlie Kirk would never say the same if Cenk had been killed. He would have celebrated Cenk’s death and called him a loser.
