I feel the same. It’s like reading “person struck down in their prime has park bench named after them”.

I’m not sure what to think. We often underestimate the degree to which previous governments have shaped our country to be dependent on the US and by extension Israel and UK. But the more I read about it (especially the Temperature Check newsletter by The Journal, 29th July 2025 by Laura Boland) the more I feel the EPP have again taken us in the a murkier direction.
Edit: An interesting analysis from an energy advisor Tara Connolly of Beyond Fossil Fuels. She basically debunks any energy advantages, even from the point of view of switching from Russian oil and gas. There is also some indication that the deal is unworkable as we don’t have the infrastructure to even use the vastly higher amount of fossil fuels Von Der Leyen seems to be agreeing to : https://www.rte.ie/radio/radio1/clips/22534029/
“It’s a pattern we’ve seen before — political rhetoric masking gangland motives,” a senior source said. “Groups like the INLA exploit social and political grievances to legitimise what are essentially criminal operations.”
It comes down to drugs and territory with these guys. Two sides of the same coin.
That website is propaganda group that both fuels and funds far-right movements. They are not journalists, but an influencing machine. The better subs have banned their links.

Right wing governments need austerity to encourage the societal suspicion and infighting they thrive on.

Peter Marks was forced out of the FDA by Trump, in part for refusing to spread disinformation about vaccines. I didn’t think we’d be able to believe anything they say for the next few years.
Do you have sisters? Do you ever go to the beach? No, it’s really not normal to find yourself reduced to base sexual impulses, and type them out on your computer just because you can see someone’s body.
So when you go to the beach, you are purving on every woman in a swimsuit or bikini?
“When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail”
I wonder if we will ever evolve to the point where we can talk about women online without some mad lad needing to sexualise them.
I don’t want to imagine a scenario where services aren’t included in bill.
Oh no! Anyway …
I’m from Ireland and I agree with the sentiment. For all the criticism we (in Ireland) level at those countries, we are very much US/UK foot soldiers. Ireland also props up the EPP in the EU, which is Israels biggest enabler. It’s the reason they face no sanctions for genocide.
I particularly judge people who don’t boycott anything at all. The people who say “I’m here for a good time, not a long time”. But I don’t judge them absolutely. I was late to the game myself so I don’t blame them. But I still think it’s their and our responsibility to do so. TLDR: no to blame, but yes to judgement.
It’s not because you have given the best of your health, and the best of your life to corporations. We retire with decaying bodies and minds.
One of my favourites: “If us Irish people had internet I’m sure we’d be offended by this.”
That’s another good point. That mindset is probably overrepresented online.
A trapped sentient creature wants to get out. That’s a sad sight 😔
