“Oh haha sorry I was talking to my cat”
I really wonder sometimes if people are actually so bad with using their words or if they just play it up for Internet clicks.
Cid Vicious@sh.itjust.worksto Technology@lemmy.world•Women’s ‘red flag’ app Tea is a privacy nightmareEnglish820·7 days agoIt was potentially defamation when it was just women…talking to one another, too. This seems like a pretty solid case of men looking at something women do to protect each other, and saying “…but what about the men who could be negatively affected in some cases?” I also think the tone in which this is being discussed is pretty revealing about Lemmy’s demographics.
Cid Vicious@sh.itjust.worksto Technology@lemmy.world•Women’s ‘red flag’ app Tea is a privacy nightmareEnglish827·7 days agoI mean, yes, but does that take priority over women who are worried about their safety? There’s been women doing this over local Facebook groups for a long time. Defamation of this sort is not a new issue.

This is yet another “google released a product, didn’t know what to do with it, and made zero updates over the last decade, so now they’re killing it.” I don’t think they’ve ever fixed the bugs that existed the first day I bought mine. The speaker is handy for casting to, but also cast is a shitty non-open protocol.
Kinda just agree with the “everything in this space sucks” unfortunately.

Outside of people who get unibrows, it really would not have been typical for guys to do eyebrow maintenance when I was growing up. Not sure if that’s changed now…younger guys seem more into fashion and grooming these days in general.

I stopped needing regular haircuts almost a decade ago
The huge apartments are kind of an acceptable break from reality for me. Yeah they occasionally have in-universe handwaves but the real reason is it’s a set and it would be hard to film in anything smaller, especially in a multi camera sitcom like Friends.
I didn’t watch enough Sex and the City to see if they had an explanation for everyone’s wealth, but it was pretty clear that all the characters were wealthy.
CatGPT is it your dinner time?
You’d think Coloradoans would get tired of looking at mountains, but you would be mistaken.
That whole survival crafting genre seems very hit or miss to me, and I’ve noticed that people liking one game in the genre is a very poor predictor of whether they’ll like another one. Subnautica, Don’t Starve, Minecraft, and Ark are all theoretically the same genre but very different games.
However I’ve also seen a lot of people say that Subnautica was the one that clicked for them. I think the story and progression was big for a lot of people.
I thought the people fired were executives, not creatives.
Edit: I also don’t see how a boycott helps the actual people working on the game.

I recall running into a problem where I wasn’t getting a picture on my monitor and I could not figure out why since my video card was supported and the drivers were ok. The problem as it turned out? I had my monitor connected via DVI and macs had never supported DVI so there were no drivers. Once the install was done, it pretty much Just Worked. Linux installs are pretty easy these days but debugging problems can be very difficult. The hard part of the hackintosh was keeping up with upgrades, since they needed to be done manually (due to potentially breaking things).

But the thing about microblogging sites is that if the specific people you want to follow aren’t on them, there’s not really a substitute. I know I’ve heard people say that, for example, a lot of japanese game developers are still primarily on twitter (I’ve never been a twitter/bsky enjoyer so I can’t speak to it personally).
…this is making me realize that I watch very few procedural detective shows, apparently. I think SVU is the only one of these I’ve seen, at all.
