We actually make fun of Teslas we come across. Ten years ago, seeing one was like “damn, wow, a Tesla”. Today it’s “eeewwww, yuck, a swasticar.”
I doubt even coca-cola could destroy a brand that thoroughly. And god knows they tried.
My kid was dreaming of having a Tesla, like a young kids would. Now he’s like “I’d love a fancy electric car, not Tesla obviously.”
Yeah, brand burndown speedrun medal right here.
Doesn’t help they are poorly built shitbox cars with poor QC and “self driving” that will potentially kill you.
And the ones unlucky enough to be around when the systems fail.
And investors keep the stock 10x overvalued.
Mee too. When we were in Norway a decade ago I made photos of the first Tesla Model Y we saw. Today I wouldn’t even take one for free.
Still the most sold car brand here in Norway, unfortunately 😣 I really don’t know what’s wrong with people. It’s not like we don’t have great alternatives by now.
that’s odd. maybe it’s the cheapest?
The vast majority of the sales are Model Y, which I believe is a great value, yes. I just hoped people would hesitate more given what Elon has been up to lately.
Yeah unfortunately I can confirm that when I was shopping around last year, if you’re going for a new vehicle, it’s impossible to beat the model Y in terms of size/function/price/range ratio. Basically you can match to something a bit similar in terms of size/range at the same price but that’s without any of the options and by the time you add them you’re like 10k€ above… In the end I decided to downsize and got a smaller, used EV (Peugeot e208) which I’m very happy with and cover most of my daily needs, and take our older hybrid with a roof box when I need the space.
yeah, me too. I am of a very high opinion about the people of Norway, and I hope this changes sooner rather than later.
Fun fact! Norway consumes the most frozen pizzas per person in the world!
I wish that this fact is the worst problem for the Norwegian people :) cheers from Ukraine :)
Looks like there needs to be more protests around teslas.
Best charging network
Is it a different type of plug?
In Europe it doesn’t matter at all.
No.
Why can’t you use it on non Tesla’s then? Different voltage?
You can use most. Used to be that you could not. Maybe it’s just not common knowledge that got can. Idk
I’m not sure how important that is when pretty much every single gas station has fast chargers these days. I don’t drive often, though, so I might be wrong!
I noticed this the other day when I had a fairly long drive in town. There were a lot of EV and I hadn’t even noticed. The thing with Tesla’s is that they are very recognizable but there are many more that you only start noticing after some time. VW seems to be biting off huge chunks of the EV market at the moment!
How many of them don’t have ridiculous amounts of data being sent to manufacturer and multiple third parties though?
Edit: All we want is an EV, not with all that privacy violating crap built in.
This is a huge downside to USA protectionism of EVs. Because the USA slaps anyone who wants to import an EV, the really cheap EVs and many of the other models from overseas don’t land here. It makes Tesla seem more popular than it ought to be because they make up a huge part of the EV market in the USA. However, when you go elsewhere and the consumer can pick from the full range of EVs, they tend not to pick Tesla.
If we allowed all the foreign EVs in the USA to be sold to citizens, then Tesla would “learn” how to compete. Since they don’t have that pressure, we have an noncompetitive product. This will end just like compact cars did in the 70s. American manufacturers said “Americans don’t want small cars”. Then, everyone started importing Japanese compacts. All of a sudden GM & co. figured out how to make a compact car.
If you want your product to be a success globally, you can’t do that through tariffs and protectionism. This is not a new phenomenon.
In the last year Tesla shares value raised by 74% and it’s now close to the maximum ever.
Which shows how disconnected it is from it’s performance as a car selling business.
Today we celebrate it’s decline in the latter, tomorrow we can only hope we celebrate both
Time to short. Their brand is utterly destroyed in Europe by Musk and his antics. Plus the European manufacturers have finally started getting their shit together. My “money no object” brand new car is a Volkswagen. I wouldn’t take a free Tesla (that I couldn’t sell).

The main reason why EV sales are booming is because European companies decided they want to sell EVs, not compliance cars designed purposely like space ships on the point that consumers won’t buy them. Yet, Porsche is no longer going to make EVs.
… and Ford. They are not doing well on account of being too expensive.
Ford keeps on pretending they are selling Lexus for rednecks…
@Sunshine as it should be
