Just a word of warning: It is a federal crime to possess an unregistered molotov cocktail, or even to have all of the components of a molotov cocktail with the intent to make a molotov cocktail later.

The point being, all of the components are so commonplace that you should never talk like you’re going to make one. I know one person who was convicted and sentenced to years in federal prison, even though he never actually assembled one, because he texted people that he was going to make one. Admittedly, in his case, he was also caught trying to assemble one. But the law didn’t actually require that.

Edit: I forgot to mention the specific reason I recalled this is that part of the evidence against him was what he found by Googling molotov cocktails, like the meme says.

So, uh, to avoid legal jeopardy, what exactly are the components of a molotov cocktail.

The same crafting ingredients that any video game would require:

        • Glass bottle
        • Alcohol
        • Piece of cloth

Other possible things you want to avoid putting in a glass bottle include gasoline (any grade) and Styrofoam.

Also, definitely don’t tape storm matches to the bottle instead of using cloth. Trust me on that. You really don’t want it to light it before throwing it and then it breaks and ignites. It’d be terrible

Cloth wicks can be unreliable and risk splashing fuel around, whereas storm matches are easy to light, wind-resistant, and burn plenty long enough on their own.

The cloth won’t fully seal the bottle, so liquid can fly out and splash from the cloth. If you don’t throw it properly or if you “fling” the rag you are going to set yourself or something nearby on fire and lob a non-flaming bottle. Storm matches burn for awhile, and you just need it to ignite when the bottle breaks, so you want to use a liquid with a low flash point and seal the bottle before chucking it.

Diesel wont work (because you specified any grade of gasoline, but people might confuse that with any grade of fuel)

            gasoline (any grade) and Styrofoam

And just so no-one has to google this either; it forms a napalm-like substance that sticks well and burns, so definitely something very dangerous that shouldn’t be tried under any normal circumstances

IPA: Isopropyl alcohol, not Indian Pale Ale

Unless this is a woosh moment for me and you were making that joke all along. Sarcasm on the Internet is weird 🫠

A double ipa maybe? That’ll get me near 20 proof. A trippel approaches 30 proof but I’ve only had Belgians in that configuration i think.

Go torrent a copy of the official US army IED handbook and idealy also get the sabotage handbook. Don’t ever use the anarchist cookbook wich contain horribly dangerous fuse design.

The one I use in france have been made using a glass bottle and a tampon as a fuse :

Put a very small dose of frying oil in the botom of your bottle, add gasoline. Soak your tampon in gasoline and use it to plug the bottle. Light and throw as fast as possible a soak fuse is quick to burn, the frying oil will vaporize on inpact making it harder for cops to get rid of the heat or cover the fire.

Alternative that I call the KFC ( Kentucky Fried Cop ) that is less ethical, same setup with a glass bottle and a tampon but use a larger dose of frying oil and put polysterene in the botom, use the same amout of gasoline. This one will make an oil mist that stick to clothe and go through cops armor. It’s litterally frying people, use it only against people you want to hurt.

BEFORE THROWING IN A PROTEST, TRAIN YOURSELF, you need to be accurate, capable of quickly throwing and backing of. Also coordinate with a local action group, people on your side need to know you are going to throw. ( and always have a atorney number on hand )

You also shouldn’t Google how to throw one. Need to make sure it’s against something solid that will break the glass. Much of a modern car is plastic and thin sheet metal, and glass bottles will bounce off. But don’t Google any of that.

Definitely don’t loft it real high so it has enough momentum to shatter when hitting asphalt or concrete.

And for sure don’t lob the bottle in an arc to your side instead of over your head so you don’t shower yourself in burning liquid. Or score the bottle along the base with a glass cutter/concrete if you are unsure whether the impact will shatter or not.

    Fucking as if.

Molly the horsegirl will then take a selfie of herself looking up how to make moltovs and post it to her little social media community while making a winky face and V sign and get 37 likes and hearts for being "progressive and actionable"and then go to bed self-satisfied.

Just like Lemmy users who post memes about how dumb Trump is.

Our problem is we are so damn comfortable that nobody ACTUALLY does anything, then those same people tune out and complain “nothing ever happens.”

Welp, things are happening now. Hope ya’ll like diseases like polio coming back and getting drafted for middle east meat grinder wars and having Palantir deciding if you’re a terrorist or not for subscribing to science news and then getting deported to a country you’ve never been in because your skin isn’t white enough.

Hey pal, maybe you’re feeling discouraged like nothing is happening.

In foreign countries with tight censorship laws, posting on social media your activities is how you get caught. Especially on a platform like Lemmy, which is both federated so any Tom, Dick, or Johnny Copman can be watching and tracking.

The news is also limp dick to report it. Because they’ve always been. Look what happened when they political theater Luigi? They dont want copycats. Did you know there’s been more and not even being talked about?

So does it exist? Oh absolutely. You don’t bring your phone to a protest for safety. So just because you aren’t seeing it on the internet doesn’t mean there isn’t defiance, protests, and good people stepping up.

If you want to see people doing something, get off the internet and see where it’s happening. I guarantee you you’ll find what you’re looking for.

Just don’t be a narc and pull out your phone and get people arrested.

I’ve been very involved, without saying where I am or what I’ve done for the same obvious reasons, but I genuinely don’t think it’s enough.

The amount of resistance people are broadly mounting in some states at this point amount to “expected opposition” for the enemy.

We need a lot more people to actually care and we need to understand that our perspective is skewed by algorithms and for every satisfying video we see of a town-hall where the GOP politician is getting booed, we have a thousand clips showing the opposite for the right. For every “we got him!” story that emerges on our feed, the median voter gets a hundred stories about how STRONGMAN TRUMP DEFEATS THE BROWN BADDIES AGAIN headlines and they glance at the AI pic of him carrying an American flag and even if they don’t care for him, the constant deluge of imagery and propaganda works amazingly well over large scales.

This is how they shifted our population against empathy and community and then they cashed their chips in to finally crush democracy because not enough people pushed back in meaningful ways. We abandoned socializing and community because giant corporations shoved comforts into every home and made people feel validated for sitting on their ass scrolling.

I am more than discouraged, I am likely going to head to the hills and take care of myself and my own until thugs come to kill us someday for not being part of the Palantir Groknet Ideology Web.
