I miss when people made fun of those who bought wireless earbuds.
skill issue. pay less get headphones with wires
My man I got a set of wireless earbuds for ten bucks at a hardware store. How much less could wired ones cost? A banana?
It’s one banana, Michael, how much could it cost?
probably not much less, but you could definitely get wired ones with a much better build quality
Mine are so cheap they have separated on the Bluetooth and are now considered two independent devices on both my phone and computer.
You just need to clean the base
Not the whole shaft?
I think I get it.
Wired IEMs master race
Got mine years ago, solidly built, have replaceable bits, and they sound as good as the day they arrived, so much better than the buds from apple or Samsung.
Any recommendations?
I tried the Moondrop Chu 2 and they were great, but after 6 months of daily use the sound is partially cutting out and I have to jiggle the wire to “fix” it temporarily. Need something more durable.
Whatever the guy that starts with c- reviews them all. I’ve had good luck with his truthear reds. Only $50 but great for my needs.
Edit- Truthear x Crinacle ZERO: RED
Oh yeah, Crinacle is a legend. How long have you had these and how often do you use them?
I spent half a decade trying IEMs. Honestly its a journey. You need to find signatures you like. I found that i like mostly flat response but different people have different taste. My go tos are etymotic research. I’ve been using the ER3s for the past 5 years.
I would appreciate a flat response, but my top priority is durability. The earbuds that came with my phone 7 years ago lasted for 5 years.
I’ve gone through 2 more sets of earbuds and 1 set of IEMs (the Chu 2) in the last 2 years. Not sure if I’m particularly tough on them / use them more frequently than other people (probably), or if everything is just built like shit these days.
ER3’s have been solid for 5 years so I’d say the durability is pretty good. I did have to replace the cable twice (you can detach the earbugs from the cables) but not because they aren’t durable. It was because my cat, Sencha, chewed through them twice.

Excellent sound quality, durable+replaceable cables, and options between a TRS(aux) cable, USB C cable, or even a Bluetooth adapter.
Looks great. Thanks!
This is ass. Sometime i have to jiggle the bud for it to make contact even after cleaning the contact point.
If your buds have exposed metal contacts get some deox-it
Or at least use a magic eraser on the contacts that you can get to.
I’ve made a habit of wiping the contacts on the earbud and case with a finger before putting it away, then I give the bud a bit of a wiggle once it’s in so the contacts rub together and hopefully dislodge/break through any dirt or oil.
I guess this is a pro for AirPods because I don’t think I’ve encountered this in the many years of owning em.
My AirPods never did this, but my AirPod Pros do this sometimes. I think it’s cuz I never clean the contacts, but alas.
I don’t use my regular AirPods much after getting my pros last year, but I gotta say… fuckin amazing headphones. My old regular pair still lasts 2-3 hours on a charge, and I used them 40+ hours weekly for years.
Happens to my AirPod Pro 2s all the time…
Never had this issue with my Pixel Buds Pro either.
My airpods only recently started working properly again, I probably dropped them too many times. The left bud wouldn’t charge without me holding it in a specific position, and at some point even that stopped working. After a while they (somewhat) started working as normal again tho.
Yeah this is one of the few issues I have found on the Buds FE (at least the pair I have rn). Other than that, they are pretty good for the price, and sometimes they give them for free if you buy a phone from Samsung (at least here in Costa Rica)
My Jabras are horrid about that.
And my Samsung Galaxy buds too.
Yes this also infuriates me
Name and shame, would love to know what brands to avoid
My AirPod Pros do this sometimes, but I think it’s cuz I don’t clean the contacts ever.
Jabra does it regularly for me. I’m not sure if it’s a brand issue tbh, it could very well be the amount of oils and wax in my ear, which in my opinion isn’t out of the ordinary but it prevents an earbud from recharging properly. Sometimes it won’t do until I wipe with alcohol. Visually there is no difference between before and after wiping.
I’ve complained in the past and I got a lot of Jabra zealots swearing they’ve never had anything like this happen to them. Also I haven’t tried wireless from other brands yet so take that into account.
This happens all the time with my PineBuds. It’s infuriating
Mine died :(
Mine eventually did too :(
I’m on the lookout for better headphones, but I feel like I’m going to be stuck with a cable for a while, since BT is so bad
I switched to the Jlab mini buds it helps at all
How do you like them? How long have you had them?
I’ve had them for a few weeks and I really like how small they are.
Pros:
-
They are super small and light
-
built in ANC that can be adjusted
-
solid sound quality including bass
-
decent battery life (a few days of use for me)
Cons:
-
ANC isn’t great
-
small size means they get lost easier
-
Proprietary app needed to change settings
-
Audio flakes out in areas with lots of RF congestion
-
I’m glad I stopped at the pinephones. They fucking suck
Well, they do constantly state everywhere it’s tech made for tinkering with, not made to be used as a regular consumer.
Haha, never moved to earbuds, was sticking to neckbands fn.
Though after the VP’s comments, Imma getting the wired earphones next!

But Buds are a Samsung brand…
my bad
Maybe they’re saying you should buy Apple’s ear buds?
Their reply to me and deleted comment says otherwise.
Ah. There we have it.
