I’m under the impression that I’m one of the few people who didn’t downvote your original post and seems to understand what you meant in the original post, apparently.
Because if they did, they would all be complaining alongside you.
If we are to share the roads and the cities with cars when biking, there has to be legislation, infrastructure and city planning to support the equality in responsibility and safety for us all. Which there isn’t at all. And when on a bike, we are the ones with the least potential for harm, while simultaneously being the most vulnerable to harm as well. And you are asking the community why that is still the way it is.
I mean, that’s what you meant, right? Or am I the one mistaken?
In my opinion, it’s a junction where sedentary behaviour, complacency, lobbying and government corruption meet and create a perfect horror show of urban design. The government contracts being handed out at a city level and the lack of indignation in response seem to suggest that is the case. At least to me it does.
