  • The easiest thing to do is make friends with plenty of people IRL through a shared hobby or interest. Those that are interested in being FWB will make themselves apparent over time. Just be honest and when appropriate, let people know you’re DTF, but not looking for anything more than sex right now.

There aren’t many people not looking for long term monogomous committed relationships. There might even be none in your area depending on your age and other factors. But that’s the best advice I can give on the matter.

EDIT: I know you said dating apps and IRL aren’t working for you right now, but honestly, there really are only two places to find people: online and IRL, so my advice still stands.

  • Meh, I peaked late, so 30 was like I turned 25. It felt awesome. Now when you turn 40…well…I’m sure its different for everybody, but I definitely no longer felt young when that hit.

Only advice I have is stay as active as you can mentally, physically, socially, and spiritually. It all adds up. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been like “Oh fuck you past me!” And also “Good job past me!” depending on the situation. So try and do right by your future self today if you can.

  • Until you have a distro that has the “Please wait while we update your system, do not turn off your computer”, and “something went wrong, please contact” screens and actual customer support, Linux won’t be ready for prime time with the majority of users.

The majority of computer and phone users are used to their asses being wiped and their bottle being fed to them.

And as soon as daddy Cook, daddy Nadella, or daddy Pichai started shoving piss poor UI, exorbitant prices, invasive advertisements, and extreme privacy invasions far up their anus, they start to complain.

But lo and fucking behold, all you have to do to get them to stick some lube up there and beg for more is show them a Linux shell. What a fucking surprise.

  • I’ve dome Ashtanga and Hatha Yoga. Hatha is the most accessible, though there’s a huge range in quality and difficulty in classes and it depends on the instructor.

Don’t bother with Ashtanga unless you’re very fit and flexible. I’ve never done Bikram/Hot Yoga, but check it out if it interests you (I’d personally try Hatha first).

Anyways, imho, yes, Yoga is worth it, but it obviously isn’t for everyone. Most classes I’ve been to have a meditative and mild spiritual aspect to it while building balance, moderate strength, and of course, flexibility.

I’ve always been an active person in various disciplines in the past including bicycling, running, strength training, calisthenics, and court sports. Yoga has always been a nice experience in the way it incorporates meditation with movement and stretch, and it complements many other disciplines nicely.

  • I can’t speak for most people, but I know I personally put on a brave face whenever the subject of death comes up, but I also admit to anyone who cares to listen that I’ll likely go out of this world afraid if I happen to be lucid and aware of what’s happening.

I don’t think I’m a coward because of it though, I’m just a living being that naturally wants to keep on living.

As for laying down your life for a cause, that’s different, and imho, that situation just sucks, cuz usually your fighting something that fucked up your desire for a quiet simple life cuz of your race or religion or lifestyle, and now you have to set aside not only your dreams for the simple everyday life, but now you have to fight some authoritarian asshole who decided you and your loved ones deserved to die or be subjugated or be tortured, etc. In those situations laying down your life is still scary, but so is living, so laying down your life becomes entwined with a desire for you and/or your loved ones to survive and hopefully at least one of you gets to have that simple everyday life authoritarianism robs from you and so many people.

But now I’m just rambling again. Hopefully that offers up some insights. I don’t think you’re a coward, I think you’re human. To be afraid of death is normal regardless of the situation.

Life and death are intertwined though, and so just as it is important it is to ask yourself the question, “How do you want to live?”, it’s perhaps equally important to ask the question, “How do you want to die?”

  • The funding of ICE doesn’t mean that the military, ICE, FBI, etc. outnumber the American civilian population, obviously. Now, this doesn’t mean that the American citizens are united nor organized nor ideologically aligned, also obviously. And yeah, this is Nazi America. What a lot of doomers fail to point out is that Nazi Germany didn’t last forever. And neither will Nazi America. The tragedy of Nazism is multifaceted, but one of those many tragedies is if you just want to live a regular life, you don’t have a choice but to fight, either for or against fascism. They force you to choose a side, and then you’re in it.

And yeah, the time for mass death on the streets of America instigated by its own government on its own people is here. It is already happening. It has sadly been happening for far longer than most think. It’s just a lot more overt now. People make fun of the Leopard’s eating right wingers faces. But truthfully, if you’re surprised by any of what’s going on right nowin the US or any capitalist country, then the Leopard has been eating all of our faces.

The Military will for the most part comply and murder, torture, imprison, and enslave their own mothers, daughters, brothers, sisters, sons and daughters etc.

And then there will just simply be one too many deaths, one too many suicides, one too many rapes, one too many genocides.

And yeah, more violence will ensue as there is a purge of fascists, and hopefully, this time, unlike after the civil war, we hang the traitors, topple their monuments, and defecate on their graves.

And then climate catastrophes will wipe out all humans except those that live closer to the poles. And then we will revert back to a more primitive way of life for better and provably far worse. And perhaps then the anthropocene will mercifully end, and humans will finally just go fucking extinct.

So it will all be not okay and then really not okay and throughout most of the ensuing century and a half, most, if not all, of us will die.

The thing most people are struggling with right now is that they haven’t transitioned from the privileged viewpoint that the big question in life is choosing “how do you want to live?”, when the only actual choice you have is “how do you preserve your choice of how you are going to die?”

Essentially, the only choice you have is to preserve your right to find your hill to die on, then stare death in the fucking face as you go. Cuz eventually even that choice will be taken from you, so take advantage now like its a fire sale on the last remaining freedom.

    Enjoy all these positive vibes.
