I am in this photo and do not like it
I took their online test out of curiosity and it said I was qualified to join. It was interesting to figure out the mechanism of it though.
From what I gathered, it seems what they’re really measuring is your capacity for pattern recognition and association or something along those lines.

But I was thinking about ways to combat this while posting and a solution involving conductive fabric was going through my head during that moment.
voodooattack@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Humans can be tracked with unique 'fingerprint' based on how their bodies block Wi-Fi signalsEnglish11·8 days agoFirst of all: cardboard does NOT block electromagnetic waves. You need a Faraday Cage for that. And even then, it has to have holes of a certain size to block specific wavelengths/frequencies. It’s why you have a mesh on the door of your microwave for example.
Secondly: they’re not attempting to photograph you. Just identifying your unique signature once would allow them to track your location anywhere where they have the gear installed.

voodooattack@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Brave browser blocks Windows feature that takes screenshots of everything you do on your PCEnglish2·10 days agoYou don’t need to be “techie” to install stuff from a package manager with a GUI. People use app stores on every mobile device out there and they don’t have any problems with that
voodooattack@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Brave browser blocks Windows feature that takes screenshots of everything you do on your PCEnglish1·10 days agoWhile I agree with most of what you said, typical users won’t run into these issues unless they’re doing something more technical (e.g installing blender or something), in which case they can ask for help.
Can 800 year old grandma Doris use the feature? Can the average person who writes comments on YouTube videos? Minion meme posting facebook aunts? If not, it’s not ready for mainstream.
I don’t think these people can install Windows or are pros at using it either, and in which case it’s the responsibility of whoever installed the OS to guide them through it a little like I did with my parents (they’re in their 80s and they’ve been using Linux for the past five years just fine), and I imagine those kind of people to only care about browsing the web and maybe viewing a PDF every once in a while.
My smile. Time to make the world a better place.
