It’ll never happen, but if we wanted to tackle this issue, it’s what we should do.

I’ve been using Manjaro with Cinnamon for about a month now. It works great on an old Lenovo with 12gb ram. Probably going to stick with it when I build my desktop.

I think it’s middle, bottom, then top.
Why
WHY NOT? Why not just waste a week of your life creating a react project just to coverup your insecurities of how incompetent you are. Just Why not!
At least they’re self aware.

Yeah, it should be “fig 1”, “also fig 1, but the other half”.

It doesn’t happen often, maybe only a handful of times over your life. But it will happen at some point. You’ll be at the urinal, or sat on a barstool, go for a cheeky fart, and feel a warm wetness you haven’t felt since you were a baby. Then you run to a bathroom stall, see what you can salvage, and excuse yourself from the situation.
It’ll happen to you at some point.

Thanks very much for your advice. I’ve reworked my CV using Open Resume and updated it on all the job boards I’ve been using, hopefully that gets me further.
I’m also continuing to update my portfolio website and building out apps in different languages and frameworks to demonstrate my skills.
It just looks like the job market sucks at the mo and I just need to keep trudging through.
Thanks again.
tabris@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What shows/movies are absurdly stupid but fun to watch with friends?15·3 months agoThe Evil Dead trilogy.
A younger friend of mine had started playing the Evil Dead game with some of his friends but had never seen the movies. I’d not watched them in years, so I invited him over to marathon them one weekend. We drank, ate pizza and did the whole trilogy, and we had an absolute blast. He loved how different each movie was, especially Heart of Darkness. How each one gets sillier than the last.
A few months later, Evil Dead Rise came out in the cinema, so we had to go see it. While this was much more a straight up horror movie (with a small amount of the Evil Dead silliness), I still enjoyed it (I find horror movies quite funny, like an emotional rollercoaster), but he was hiding behind his coat the whole time, terrified of what was happening on screen. That made it even funnier for me.

Isn’t it funny how family values exclude so much of real families?

tabris@lemmy.worldto Books@lemmy.world•What book(s) are you currently reading or listening? March 111·5 months agoJust finished Red Shirts by Jon Scalzi, a Star Trek satire about the disposability of side characters in sci-fi. Not a bad book, by any regards, but had a very simplistic writing style that got tedious at times. The best part of the book was when the narrative finished 75% of the way through the novel, then it spent three chapters exploring three of the minor characters from the narrative and the repercussions the plot had on them. This made the book worth reading, but I still felt a little unsatisfied at the end.
I’m now reading Alien Clay by Adrian Tchaikovsky. I’m only two chapters in, but so far, this looks much more up my street. Earth has become a fascist technocracy that sends its political prisoners to far off planets to endure forced labour. The descriptions of acceptable losses in the first chapter made the tense descent of the main character to his new prison planet all the more so. Interested to see where this one goes.
