  • …sure?

This kid doesn’t know what he’s writing or why, he’s just coaxing cursor to vomit up commits and apparently that’s their only metric for success.

I work with AI tools and with people who are absolute top tier Cursor users and their shit is always broken. They iterate fast but they absolutely do not fully understand what they’re producing. It’s great for rolling out flashy UI quickly (apparently the only thing investors care about), then you watch it all go to shit the second you push because every update breaks everything in horrifying ways. It’s like watching the early days of enterprise C++/Java where everything was spaghetti, but 100x worse.

I don’t think this paradigm of AI is likely to rival a decent human developer, there needs to be a fundamental change in how the models work and how we use them. What were doing now is hoping quantity is somehow going to replace quality.

  • So, this is purely for educational purposes, like googling jury nullification, but people should be aware of what a police “Stop Stick” is and how the police use them.

They’re basically constructed out of stuff from the hardware store: a 2-3ft foam triangle cut from a sheet with a utility knife, ~2" steel tubes cut to a syringe-like point on either end and glued to the three faces of the triangle, then the whole thing wrapped in paper or fabric. When a vehicle runs one over the foam crushes and the tube-needles instantly deflate the tire. You can drive for a few minutes after being hit (until the now flat tire disintegrates and you’re on the rim) but they work by…strongly deterring…someone from driving forward because of the amount of damage they cause and rendering the vehicle much less capable when trying to escape a persuit.

  • Since nobody has mentioned it, all of this is turbo illegal and the federal courts will absolutely nuke this from orbit. State governments do not control airspace, full stop. The courts have been very clear on this. Manned vs unmanned doesn’t matter to the FAA, it’s still one hell of a PP slap from the feds for encroaching on their turf. Additionally, any form of jamming (desense, deauth, noise, location spoofing, fraudulent signals etc) is illegal and regulated by the FCC, and doing it with intent to take down an aircraft means you get strung up by both the FCC and FAA simultaneously. In particular doing literally anything to the GPS band will pose a massive and immediate risk to manned passenger aircraft and the feds aren’t going to look kindly on that.

  • The market can remain irrational longer that you can remain solvent.

The problem isn’t that you can’t predict when a stock is mispriced, that’s sometimes very easy, it’s predicting when all the other dipshits will come to the same conclusion because ultimately that’s all that matters.

Right now musk still has a personality cult and there are a lot of morons buying the stock like their worldview depends on it. They don’t read the earnings reports, they don’t read unbiased news, they mostly don’t even own the cars, they just think it’s going to the moon because…for lack of a better word, propaganda.

  • I’m not intimately familiar with the BCM2711 but I believe it’s a reasonable, albeit somewhat overpowered, processor for the application. It can be put into a variety of low power states and probably pulled out of sleep by various events like the GSM chip sending packets or accelerometer motion (frequently the peripheral chips have dedicated “wakeup” pins that you can wire to interrupts). It’s not the most cost effective option by far, there are sub $5 microcontrollers with multiple cores for handling communications and real time motor control concurrently but you’d need to hire someone like me for a few months @$200/hr to write the low level drivers and design the boards. The rpi lets random web-only devs fumble their way through hardware development using whatever GitHub Python libraries they can find. If you only need a hundred scooters it makes more sense to just yolo it and buy up the remaining supply of rpis to start your grift.
