  • I personally pay mine off every month, but I am more fortunate than many. I think a lot of people fall behind on their bills.

People have to prioritize rent and utilities every month just to stay off the streets. Then food, healthcare, and other essential expenses need to be taken care of. Anything that can’t be paid for out of pocket goes on the credit card, and since you only need to make a minimum payment on a credit card, a lot of people will do that to keep their heads above water until next month rolls around.

It’s a vicious cycle and once that interest gets added in you are really only paying down the interest and not reducing the principal.

  • He wants to exclude Biden voters from the $600 Trump tariff rebate checks?! The ones Trump got for us?

The same Trump that was best friends with Jeffery Epstein up until his suspicious suicide? You know, that known pedophile that Trump said “liked them young?” Remember when Trump wrote him a weird birthday card? That was odd for a president to do that. Trump did say he liked to grab women by the pussy. That was weird too.

Wait what were we talking about again? Oh yeah the $600 “sorry we dismantled your somewhat functioning government” check I probably won’t get. Cool.

  • I miss the old days of people making niche websites for their hobbies, their own blogs, and message boards.

So many people think of the Internet as Google, Meta, Netflix, or <favorite social network here>. That makes me sad.

I don’t see a way back to a less commercialized internet, but little pockets of goodness like Lemmy make me happy.

  • Developers are still familiar with the concept, there are even ideas like server side rendering in react to make sites more SEO friendly.

I think the biggest issue is that there is very little business reason to support these users. Sites can be sued over a lack of accessibility and they can lose business from bad ux, so they are going to focus in those two areas ten times out of ten before focusing on noscript and lynx users. SEO might be a compelling reason to support it, but only companies that really have their house in order focus in those concerns.
