If you don’t want kids, you really should listen to that and not be swayed by other sentiments IMHO. You can’t expect your wife to do all the heavy lifting; you will need to step up. And it is hard and unrelenting work to raise children. It’s okay if that’s something you were wanting to do as it can become a source of meaning. If you don’t want to be there it will feel like a trap and there will not be a way out of it. I appreciate that this might mean that you and your wife would need to separate so she could have a chance to have children without you. Its just that important that you go into having children really wanting to do it because if you dont want to do it it will hurt everyone.

Its a fine slogan, its certainly a truism if only for RFK and Dr. Oz running health care (jeeze!). And regret is a real thing.

Jung didn’t have much to say about self actualization I dont think. it was more Abraham Maslow and Carl Rogers. The term refers to what is possible after you’ve managed to take care of all your other needs, and what is left is to become the best most genuine expression of your possibilities you can be. Most people will never get their needs met and so actualization in its purest form will be elusive and fleeting.

So, if synology is enshitified, what should people be looking at for nas replacements? Qnap? A custom build of some sort?

A better name for the syndrome would be Executive Function Disorder. Executive Function is the term used to describe the ability to exercise agency and rational judgement when making decisions. Disorders of executive function leave a person having difficulty not responding impulsively. This affects attention; what I decide to pay attention to, and how long I hold my attention there, and it also affects emotional expression, how well I maintain an even keel and exercise control over how strongly my emotions become and how they influence my behavior. In ADHD people have difficulty deciding where their attention will go and also tend to be more emotionally labile. Shame sensitivity is frequently reported.
