Poisons don’t have to be alive to hurt you.
Not the time or the guy.
I had to VPN back home to get around the email verification for a new location.
Then you can get that with technology. Because where computer stuff is concerned, we’re still cobbling our own pi-holes and smart home setups.
He probably only gets the privilege these days when he goes to Russia. Watched too closely otherwise.
So far we’ve been screaming that the meteors are coming. They haven’t really hit yet. When they start landing next to them and on them, then most of them will start to believe it.
But one, how close the meteor needs to hit varies. And two, a few won’t even get it when their wife gets deported.
The thing is, we don’t need you to march on Washington. We need you to march against your neighbor who’s so full of OAN that they still support the asshat in chief.
I think the big thing is that they can and should be better than this, too. We shouldn’t have to settle when we’ve made enough abundance for everyone.
Personally, I still want people desperate enough to do shitty jobs like dealing with trash and sewage and people. But I think we have enough to pay those people good money, give them good healthcare, an otherwise comfortable financial life, let them work 32 hours a week, and let them retire at 65.
Basically what unions would have given is if they hadn’t been gutted.
Quiet. Don’t tell them. Powell will be okay if he takes the fall. The rest of us might not be, because if he picks off one, he can pick off more.
We get less of a percentage of our work, but certainly get more absolute value.
The gains in efficiency over the last hundred years have been insane. Today’s crumbs are better than the whole cookie back then.
No more dirt floors, indoor plumbing, electricity, books, etc.
You know, you can just look at it. It’s pretty simple, easy to look at, pretty repetitive code where it’s generally pretty easy to spot if something’s wrong.
Vibe coding is more hitting “accept all” and not looking at it at all (or not knowing how to look at it).
Sometimes lorum ipsum is useful.
It’s useful for things I’d otherwise Google. It makes a great ORM, when you know exactly what you want to do with a lot of mundane code. And it’s so much better than adding a framework for an ORM.
Is your life likely to change significantly in the next five years? Most people go through fairly big changes in their 20s. How will your future significant other feel about it? Do you care, or is it a deal breaker?
Doesn’t xmpp require a constant connection?
Reminds me of the brilliant Coca-Cola campaign of putting random names on cans. Is someone more likely to buy a Coke that says “Jerome” of their friend happens to be named Jerome? Absolutely. And if they’re not? I don’t think it bothers anyone.
And then it got watered down, likely by committee. Now they say “buddy”, “pal”, etc. so that they can apply to everyone.
Missed the Mark a bit there.
I bet passing the butter seems like a pretty sweet robot gig right about now.
It’ll be this for the powerful who will push the (legitimate) Epstein stuff to get the plebs.
