I read the other day that meshtastic doesn’t have the bandwidth to send much data. And all other data has to wait until it finishes sending the first thing.
I think the better option is having a wifi with a server or NAS to serve content and other neighbors mesh with the WiFi and keep boosting it.
Hopefully we can move to some kind of underground “dark net” type thing and make a 90s / 2000s style internet with forums and stuff. Actual information and not AI Slop.
Or just stop using the internet as much and be more productive.

Cheap cameras often have bad side effects.
Amazon cameras stream everything to Amazon. There was a story where a delivery guy heard the camera wrong and reported it to Amazon, then Amazon disabled their Amazon account and it disabled their entire smart home. Amazon also gives all the footage to police, even when nothing wrong has happened.
Arlo cameras were sold as “local” but still uploaded to their cloud, and everyone has access by guessing the URL, there was no password or anything.
Lots of these cheaper cameras have so many flaws.
I have 2 camera systems. Offline local system that just records if anything happens, no internet at all.
I have another system that I have cameras in specific places (like the driveway) and I can get notifications of any movement.
It’s really, really hard to find a good one, thats also secure. Also does it have to be online?
Firefox focus, it’s a browser with only 1 tab and built in Adblock.
My neighbor does that with his grey water. Just be sure to use the right biodegradable soaps.
That’s a great start! I’m sure it can be filtered and sanitized. Filter out solids and kill the bacteria.
We use very little water, we wash dishes with a pump sprayer. The biggest use of water is drinking.

We have been off grid about 8 months now. Right now we don’t even have water access. We haul water from Walmart. Just got a free rainwater roof a few days ago, and found free gutters, but need to find IBC tanks. It’s a ton of work but so satisfying.
I am very happy to not be on the grid. We have a smaller setup, but it runs the AC during the day (even when we are not home) and it’s FREE.
Oh yea and during recent heat waves people in town have been having power outages, not us.
I have been using a program called GPT4ALL and you can download many models and run them locally. They give you a prompt at boot if you want to share data or not. I select no and use it offline anyway.
If you are on a budget, camp in whatever vehicle you already own. I lived in a small car with my wife and cat for several months as we were moving. Learned a ton from “Cheap RV Living” on YouTube.
We had a solar generator with some panels, we cooked using electric skillet, had a twin bed, fairy lights use almost no power, and we had a 12v fridge. It wasn’t that bad but we eventually found a super cheap RV and live in that now.

Sad thing is the car only haas about 60,000 miles and the clutch bearing died about a month ago. Wasted $2,000 to have a new clutch installed because I’m on raw land and i have not built my garage yet.
Once I build my garage I plan to have a concrete pad poured so I can add a car lift. Might be a few years until I can work on this car and it’s our only car at the moment and I live in the middle of nowhere.
But good news I did buy a pickup truck on Tuesday, they are mailing the keys, title, bill of sale. So hopefully by next week we have another vehicle to drive around here. Sadly the owner died, but that’s how I got a great price on it.

1st works fine. I didn’t force it, just shifted like normal, and knew something was wrong when there was a grinding noise. Hopefully we don’t have to push it. I once owned a stick shift car that the starter didn’t work, we had to push start it each time lol at least until I change the starter.
Just earlier I was reading about this website hosted on solar power and the extremes they went through to get the website to be simple so very little data is transmitted to save precious watts.
