Ragnor@feddit.dkto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is something you never understood the hype for?4·8 days agoI enjoyed it when the author was in charge of the TV series. I watched until the end of the initial series, but after that I never looked back.
Spoilers/explanation below:
Too many things didn’t make sense, like how the dragon queen suddenly became a completely different person. How the Lannister siblings made up after hating each others guts, only for the tower to collapse on top of them the same instant. That everyone met their nemesis at the very end. Why anyone would vote for Bran to become the new king when he barely spoke to anyone since he was like 13 years old, and many other inconsistencies like that. The last couple of seasons barely had any story at all, it was mostly about fighting… It was bad.

It usually isn’t that high, depending on where you are. Even if some of them had HIV / aids and you were completely unprotected, the risk of getting the disease isn’t 100%.
Ragnor@feddit.dkto Europe@feddit.org•Von der Leyen and Trump strike EU-US deal with 15% tariff for the blocEnglish7·8 days agoI disagree with your statement about quality. For instance, I’d much rather have a German car than an American one. America doesn’t really make things any more anyway, most of it has been outsourced to China or other countries. The manufacturing expertise has mostly left the US. See for instance some of the most recent videos done by Smarter Every Day on YouTube where he talks about how hard it is to make a purely American made product.
What they have in the US is money so they can buy stocks and other things like that, so they make money off of things that others make.
They also make a ton of money off of everybody using the dollar as the global trade currency. That means that they can print a lot more money in the US without it causing as much inflation as it would otherwise, and the money they print are released into the US economy. They basically get to tax the holdings of companies all over the world that way.

Ragnor@feddit.dkto Europe@lemmy.ml•Trump tells Europe to ‘get your act together’ on immigration before US-EU trade talks2·9 days agoAnd the less work gets done, so the less money comes back to the country. The cost of your produce goes up when the wages go up, so it becomes harder to compete with competitors from other nations. You risk your businesses defaulting, and the workers losing their jobs so the wages drop once more.
It is not that simple.
I’ve been searching for knowledge my entire life, and I love sharing what I have learned. Helping others with whatever struggles they may have gives me more pleasure than doing the same thing for myself. I don’t care if it is helping fix computers, doing math, physics or chemistry homework, helping replace a chip on a broken electronics component, or basically whatever you may think of. I’ve been around the block once or twice - I spent basically all my free time over the past 25 years nerding over anything and everything.
I would hate to be ignorant and lose the capability of helping others or myself.

You don’t have to feel bad about it even though it is something you should try to avoid. It’s hard to see that cane when it is poking out in front of the person all the way at the ground if you turn around or things like that.
If I had to guess you both apologized when it happened, and both of you should be able to walk away satisfied after a random friendly interaction like that.
Ragnor@feddit.dkto News@lemmy.world•Trump Is Really Asking People to Venmo to Pay Off the National DebtEnglish1·10 days agoWell, it isn’t called “medium”. If I saw someone asking for the medium, I would assume that they mean “the median” instead.
The median is the number that is right in the middle of the distribution, so if you have the data points: 1, 1, 1, 3, 14, 80, and 141, the median is 3.
The mean/average is what you get if you add all the numbers together and divide that by the number of data points. For the above example the sum is 241, and divided by 7 that is approximately 34.3 .
The mode that @Aussiemandeus mentions is the number that appears the most times, so that is 1.

If they shut a politician out due to social democratic opinions, they would be shooting themselves in the foot. So many users would leave the platform. That isn’t in Metas interest.
If they want to control the narrative they have to keep people on the site, and they could just show the content that they don’t like to fewer of the users.
