Pyotr@lemmy.worldto A Boring Dystopia@lemmy.world•Even households earning $150,000 a year are struggling with credit card and car payments10·6 days agoIn HCOL areas, 150k/yr can be barely above poverty level. (See SF as an example, poverty income for a single earner is ~118k USD)
Given the number of those kind of areas, and the cost of rent now, it makes perfect sense.
Pyotr@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How do you justify buying something you want but don’t need?8·14 days ago1.7K SEK is about 154€ EUR or 180$ USD.
So its not insane money. Still a bit, but not as bad as it may seem.
Pyotr@lemmy.worldto Hardware@lemmy.world•Implantable device could save diabetes patients from dangerously low blood sugarEnglish2·20 days agoAs a T1D, im well aware, I keep on top of those studies in the hopes that one day there is a viable option for even a partial “cure”.
There’s a bevy of things to point about why the above suggestion was silly, yours is certainly just as valid as well.
Pyotr@lemmy.worldto Hardware@lemmy.world•Implantable device could save diabetes patients from dangerously low blood sugarEnglish71·20 days agoBecause its just that easy, right.
Just go down to your local stem cell transplant clinic, on every corner of your local town! No worries about insurance, guaranteed approval and coverage no matter the case or conditions!
Are… You threatening me with a good time? I’d love to drive a tiny kei car. The smaller the car is, the better!
Pyotr@lemmy.worldto Games@lemmy.world•There's still no sign of Star Citizen 1.0, but it did just get a revamped referral program so the die-hards can tempt in even more sapsEnglish101·1 month agoRight there with you. Spent about 45$ on an Aurora, got a free Mustang, and did a CCU into a nomad. I’m not upset with the money I spent on the game. Gotten way more out of it just vibing in universe, flying over each new planet at they add it.
I doubt it’ll ever launch though. Those who have invested thousands of dollars into it are bound to be salty when the towel is thrown in.
Pyotr@lemmy.worldto Android@lemmy.world•Ever wanted a camera on your Wear OS watch? Well, it's happening.English3·2 months agoHe mentioned in the video that its the possibility of integration, and its just an app you can choose to install or not - the app I’m fine with. Baking it into the OS of the watch is an instant cancelation of order from me. Its a bloody watch with a few extra features, I dont want it to talk, Or think, or do anything but tell time and show me notifications from my phone so I know if I can’t ignore it.
Pyotr@lemmy.worldto Android@lemmy.world•Ever wanted a camera on your Wear OS watch? Well, it's happening.English2·2 months agoAhh, that would explain why I’ve not seen it. Hate me some video updates, love me simple text.
Cheers mate for providing the source!
Pyotr@lemmy.worldto Android@lemmy.world•Ever wanted a camera on your Wear OS watch? Well, it's happening.English1·2 months agoI dont disbelieve this - but where did you see that announcement? I wish to know more, and potentially cancel my preorder depending on what I see. I went hunting in their usual channels for updates but not seeing anything related to this.
Pyotr@lemmy.worldto Not The Onion@lemmy.world•RFK Jr.’s FDA chief says diabetics should take cooking classes instead of insulinEnglish0·2 months agoNot to be pedantic, but high blood sugar symptoms are more like lethargy, constant thirst, frequent urination, irritability, and at a certain point, straight to coma as the blood turns too acidic (DKA). Nothing as exciting as seizures in there.
Only because having been around a few people who were diagnosed as adults, and these very basic symptoms were overlooked, so the more people aware of them, hopefully the less people that need to visit the ICU for DKA

Pyotr@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Why Balcony Solar Panels Haven’t Taken Off in the USEnglish10·3 months agoI just took portable ones and ziptied them to my balcony connected to a solar generator. Works to feed all my electronics and server equipment. It only connects to the grid if its depleted, never feeds power back in.
So you can still do this in the states, so long as you’re not feeding into the grid.

I see you found a space on top of the cabinets to cast aspersions on the fridge top squatter in the comic.
Would make for an excellent hidden panel.

It rather tweak a cable once a year, or heck even a few times a year than charge a battery every few weeks.
Pyotr@lemmy.worldtomicromobility - Bikes, scooters, boards: Whatever floats your goat, this is micromobility@lemmy.world•NXS kit converts cable derailleurs to wireless, for under $80English6·3 months agoI was assuming a box that would mount on the rear triangle, but no. Threads straight into the derailuer in a perfect position to rip it and the derailuer off in one go making everything useless.
Oh, and its more ewaste. Cable shifters work perfectly fine, I don’t understand the general obsession with adding more electronics and batteries to charge to a bike.
Bonding, or is the cat trying to borrow the braincell?
Only one of my cars has earned a name, otherwise its just "that shitbox"or “the daily”
My blue VW Golf project car I’m always tweaking, modifying and breaking because I’m not a mechanic, thus it often forgets how to car, and it has black and yellow accents. So it’s been christened “Dory”
