  • So weird, Right? I get the same with Ketchup, for some reason, it just tastes off-putting and disgusting to me, like vinegar and sugar, with a bit weird chemical aftertaste and maybe a hit of tomato, lol.

I see people coating their hot dogs and fries with that and just think “Ew, but to each, their own”

  • Honestly, thst is very subjective. I love tamarind and pepper candy, vanilla ice cream with spicy chips, and honey plus roasted chillies marinade for pork.

And I say this as someone who is not into spicy food, there are a few combinations out there, where the sweet and spicy mix actually work great for a snack.

Kinda funny how the image invokes reactionary ragebait just for clicks, and a lot of people are being farmed for engagement like that.

If they had actually made that the branding, sure, but it is not much more than ragebait and nothingburgers. And might have been a dog whistle, possibly maybe.

  • Because neither medication or therapy are 100% guaranteed cures. And they are a silver bullet for very few people anyway.

Sure, a lot of people don’t try those solutions, and others like me, got tired of side effects and trying over 20 different medications over the years, but the process is grueling as fuck.

It is not like it was just going to buy an over the counter, one size fits all pill that magically dissolved the anxiety.

  • Back when I was a young, gay goth, one of my closest friends talked me into going out swapping wardrobes. He was(and still is) very handsome, but he is one of those preppy gay guys.

I hate the fact that our Polaroids of that night got lost. It was such fun, and although I didn’t recognize myself in the mirror, it felt amazing, being a different version of myself for a night. And he felt so free, not having to worry about his hair and looks for the night, wearing comfortable, scuffed to hell boots, instead of his traditional suede shoes.

  • Easy, because most people do. Be it by indoctrination of their children, justification of atrocities, or by feeling self righteous, it is almost always a tool of coercion.

And people who think they’re above of it all, and who think their lukewarm faith is the answer, are disgusting to the creature they claim to serve, as per the Book of Revelation, chapter 3, verses 15-16.

  • Personally, because I take offense at anyone who proudly worships the creature who killed tons of babies and kids, just for being the firstborn of a culture and not taking in the religion of another group just for being the correct one, imposing rules on a whim and turning those who failed into salt, testing faith by asking someone to kill their child, burning up cities because it disagreed with with how some of the people in it lived, and many other atrocities.

But more to the point, because I think it is disgusting to worship a creature so powerful and stubborn that after so much interference, now allegedly just says “I’m a hands off parent now, I don’t care if you poke your eye out, commit Holocaust or poison and kill men, women and children by pretending to be acting in my name, I’ll just judge you after you die, k, tks, bye”

You claim to be against the sins that form the basis of your religion, and I respect that, but one can’t turn a blind eye to what the scriptures say.

    With love, a former seminarian.

  • I wasn’t /s

But seriously, it is far easier being on the outside, pointing and casting blame, but for us old enough to remember all the people who were blackballed, run out of the business, and even murdered for exposing sexual abuse, it is hard to tell.

And on top of that, there are cases where a third party has exposed the abuse, to which both the victim and perpetrator deny the accusations, and it just ends up terribly for the whistleblower.

Yet, back to the point, we’re on reddit lemmy, where nuance goes to die.

  • I fully agree with that first half of the statement, and seeing women as nothing but things, incapable of evil, of plotting, murdering, mass murdering or any other distasteful thing.

But then on the next few lines you show similar views with collective responsibility, on how straight men have a terrible history, and that we’re doing far too little to grow out of.

People are not monolithic, and while sure, you can state statistics, judging everyone for the crimes of many or few they share characteristics out of their control with, is a very fucked up thing.

Edit: The argument about women being incapable of things should also some of the fucking amazing things women can do, and achievements that history and sexism have tried and often succeed at burying. Honestly, humans are both magnificent and horrifying, no matter what gender they are.
