It’s not. My family is anti-trump, and mostly harmless these days.
But blaming the democrats for the people who voted republican is a stupid online trick that both sidesers like to use.
The fact is, if the democrats were “more in touch with this country” they’d all act like Trump. That’s what this country wants. That’s what this country deserves.
Or it shows that when you are truly awful, racist, homophobic, transphobic, idiots, your children move away from you to the cities where they don’t have to talk or interact with you, which concentrates the intelligent and worthwhile portion of the population into blue centers that aren’t evenly distributed across the electoral college?
I recently saw an article about some Canadians who uprooted their family and moved to Russia because LGBTQ+ exist.
Apparently they didn’t like it when the government froze their assets as “suspicious,” and when they complained on social media were immediately were forced to take it down and apologize.
I find Lemmy significantly worse than reddit was in this regard. The number of times I’ve had my different (not unpopular outside of lemmy) opinion met immediately with personal insults is way higher here in the few months I’ve been here than my years with reddit.
I’ve just been learning not to engage on any of the lemmy propaganda areas, and that leaves me with a lot less active communities.
This is why I took in my local goth as a pet. They keep the same hours and have the same dance moves, but it’s much less cruel to lock a goth in a dark room for hours with snacks.
