Red flag laws, as written, don’t come anywhere near a strict scrutiny standard and rarely involve a judge. Usually police are empowered to make the decision, or worse, instructed to always seize weapons immediately until a judge says give them back, even if the police think it sounds like bullshit (as in the scenario of the greentext).

The first amendment concerns might be the original legal reason for not requiring ID verification, but the real problem with this in my eyes is privacy. Of course, online privacy is simply not popular at all in the US, UK, EU etc at all these days.

Man, I guess I can imagine someone liking “I FEEL ASLEEP!!!” Metal Gear back when there was nothing better for the western market, but I still think that game sucked ass. The original MSX2 version of the game holds up and is fun today, but if the NES port was the “real” game I don’t think it would have got a sequel. It might have been fascinating (if you didn’t know about the REAL one) but I genuinely don’t think it was fun.
