I love how quickly they brush aside spending as a cause, while then immediately pointing out how much of the increase in spending was wasted.

The only thing that keeps me from despair is organizing. Go outside and get with a group that does mutual aid, stands against ICE, helps educate people, etc.
The answer to your problem isn’t to read another book or article, its other comrades in real life!

US News@lemmygrad.ml•Zohran Mamdani calls Cuba and Venezuela dictatorships
517·27 days agoIt saddens me to hear this, however Mamdani has nothing to do with Cuba, Venezuela, or Israel (other than divestment initiatives, which other DSA representatives have supported for the most part). He is running for NYC mayor not the “Department of War”. Politicians are not thought leaders in the US, they are a tool to be used for legislation. If these are the words he needs to say to bring material change to the people of NYC, its unfortunate but may be worth it. Him speaking like a maoist third worldist isn’t going to change much.
Real change in the US will not come from a politician, it will come from the people.

World News@lemmygrad.ml•Cuba and Brazil agree on a joint roadmap for sustainable food systems
8·1 month agoI believe we will see more of this as an effect of USA tariffs. Why would anyone care about the American blockade when they are getting tariffs anyway? I’m hopeful this will lead to improving the material conditions of the global south.

Palestine@lemmygrad.ml•BDS Works: Starbucks to close ~200 Stores & Cut 900 Corporate Jobs
6·1 month agoIs there better data to point to this being a direct cause of BDS? The numbers they point to seem to be a general economic slump in line with the rest of the US. SBWU actions are also picking up steam and planning to go on strike, which doesn’t have much to do with BDS.

Ok, well now you have. I used to watch Hasan, then started reading lenin. Now hear I am. He encourages people to go outside and organize, so I now spend significantly less time online. I have met many others in my org who did the same.
