The new notice comes after the Trump administration said it would not tap roughly $5 billion in contingency funds to keep benefits through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, commonly referred to as SNAP, flowing into November. That program helps about 1 in 8 Americans buy groceries.

“Bottom line, the well has run dry,” the USDA notice says. “At this time, there will be no benefits issued November 01. We are approaching an inflection point for Senate Democrats.”

How the fuck are 1 in 8 Americans on snap? How is this not considered a failed capitalist state at this point?!

Those are just the ones that technically qualify and can get thru the red tape. California makes it easy. Not sure of other states. Assume a larger than reported number.

I’m technically on SNAP, but I’m only getting $24 a month because of my unemployment insurance. Otherwise it caps around $200 per month.

Fun fact: unemployment counts as income for SNAP (potentially reducing your benefits) but does not count as income for anything else, nor should it. USA! USA! USA!
