Also if you type “bluetooth” it will suggest “Bluetooth File Sharing” above “Bluetooth.” That second one is the one you want for connecting to a speaker.
This irks me every day.
This one is so annoying.
What pisses me off the most is that Spotlight USED to work very well.
It’s really the most annoying thing. Spotlight was so trustworthy and now I can’t find shit. Half of the time it can’t even find applications I know I have installed. I guess time to switch to Linux, but Asahi is not really finished yet, and I just hate how the trackpad feels on Linux installations.
Asahi does not even work on Me and M4 macs from what I understand :(
I wish to add: searching for Downloads (the folder), and the first option is some sort of Downloads application on the store
Try this: https://albertlauncher.github.io/
It’s better.
Oooh Linux too! I use KDEs one and it’s good-ish, every time I want to launch spectacle (I keep forgetting the key combo) and type “spe” if finds settings for stuff and shit. Hope it’s better!
Windows loves the old. Did you mean to “bing” for “notes” rather that the app called notepad or notepad++ or the folder in desktop called “notes”. Thanks Microsoft.
Disable that shit with O&O Shut Up 10. I also recommend StartAllBack and MSEdgeRedirect. Those three tools combined fix 90% of peoples’ issues with Windows 10/11. Gets rid of ads, AI, and other annoyances like trying to force Edge and Bing upon you.
You can also disable it by installing Linux
This is the way. I left the absuive relationship with Microsoft a few months after the Steam Deck got released. Valve proved to me that Linux can do gaming well now and that GNOME is not the only desktop environment to choose from.
I’ve been using Power Toys to get some of that sweet stuff back. You can install it without admin access so it even works on clamped down corporate hardware.
Basically you can set up a quick switcher (Command Palette) and you can type to search, and use parameters to quickly only find a certain thing (app, file, folder), or just run a command or run math without using the calculator.

I used to do IT support for all-Mac environments and would have loved a dedicated place to bitch about it. Most places are either fully drunk on Apple koolaide or just don’t care.
5 years at the Apple Store. Started as specialist, went to iOS device repair, then 3 years as a One to One trainer. I tried to make us a home, lol. It was great before all the stock buybacks. Gosh darn Tim Apple…
Tahoe is such a train wreck
Nope, sequoia
Tahoe is still a wreck. I’d stay on Sequoia a while longer.
It might be that it’s taking into account how recently you used the thing or something.
As long as any infrastructure used to hint to the indexing engine that its index is dirty to avoid fully-rescanning the filesystem occasionally is available to non-Apple software, I assume that you could just use a different software package for this.
kagis
I haven’t used any of these, and can’t recommend them, but it looks like Mac developers have built alternatives:

I mostly use
plocate
on my Linux machine if I want to do a search across filenames on the filesystem as a whole.Whats the issue here? You can store notes in other internet accounts other than apple accounts. Its a relevant search result IMO.
Ever heard of relevance? That is something you would use once on setup and rarely ever again. 99.99% of the time you want to just open the app.
Yea but its a search. If you wanted a shortcut to the app, maybe pin it to your dock so its easier to access. If its a search, i would want all relevant items to appear.
