It’s a simple thing for them to do since everything is per recorded unlike places like twitch where it’s live.

Newpipe, vancetube. It is YouTube without ads
On mobile.
On Desktop you can use FireFox + uBlock Origin.
On smart tv
Smart tube (android/google tv), tizentube (Samsung) and youtube-webos (LG)
Or adblock DNS 94.140.14.14 and 94.140.15.15
DNS blocking doesn’t really work for YouTube ads.
Just don’t use YouTube
Moving to a different service is easier and better in the long term
