A small weight has been lifted from my shoulders to know at least the large tech company in my region is no longer actively contributing digital infrastructure to facilitate the Palestinian genocide.
There is still a crushing weight on my shoulders, and there is still such a long road of “too little too late” to be lost on, but at least today it is a tiny bit less.
edit Also necessary skepticism here, all of these people lie mercilessly.
@supersquirrel yes, they do lie. :-|
Oh yeah, I imagine this is some form of Microsoft moving their servers to a different country where it is easier to hide their business with Israel, or it is just Microsoft turning around and doing the same kind of business with US domestic surveillance or other authoritarian countries around the world.
I will still count it as a victory though, I can’t see how anybody involved in this project would want to abruptly quit it/make it go sideways, it is simply too large of a project, if you start building a deathstar and bad PR makes you move your deathstar production somewhere else and claim you stopped deathstar production… even if deathstar production starts up again in a new place that was still a still a win in the sense that it threw a monkeywrench into the process idk I guess I see it that way I don’t believe them but I do believe this was annoying as hell for the people trying to run their systems of oppression quietly in peace, I do not believe this is what they wanted… so I will see it is as a small tiny victory.
@supersquirrel Yes, I agree. They’re too money-hungry to just give it up.
@Miro_Collas @palestine@lemmy.ml @palestine@fedibird.com do I believe that?
