This is nothing but a “financially wise” move because Israel as a colonial project won’t be viable in the near future and Western leaders and capitalists are painfully catching up to this reality. It’s not a moral move, barely constitutes “virtue signaling”, and not indicative of a major ideological revolution in the West. It’s important to remember this so people aren’t confused, nor surprised when different victims of Western amoral, inhuman profit-seeking start appearing (probably just those at home TBF, Western powers are becoming increasingly comparatively weaker to bully and pillage the rest of the world as efficiently).
And I don’t doubt there are more MAGAs and Tommy Robinsons in the West than Gretas and Palestine Action folks so it’s not like the people are mostly on the right side of history but are just victims of (democratically elected btw) inhuman leaders…
So what economic or political trajectory has changed to make Israel non-viable as a tool for capitalist gain?
Israel acted as a tool for destabilisation in the area, which allowed America to financially bully the Arab world (and also paved the ground for their incursions in the area, ofc), but it was also (and equally importantly) a major if not the major consumer of all products made by the MIC. The money was funnelled from American taxpayers into the coffers of MIC capitalists through their support for Israel, and the people clapped. Now, with America fighting several internal wars and the narratives and support for war slightly shifting in the last 20 years in the US, with the rise of anational technocrats who have displaced the MIC as the main drivers of American politics and as the rest of the world rises in power and unites politically and financially in anti-Western leagues, Israel relevancy is being phased out. I mean, it’s not like America hasn’t tried to keep this going (their recent collaboration with Israel against Iran, which they expected to be 1-hit KO, and the propagation of “Christian Zionism”, come to mind) but you can’t just fight reality and expect to win, specially when your own house is crumbling and your power and influence is relatively diminishing.
Well damn… Like, maybe half the sentiment is correct, but that’s a dog water analysis of the geopolitics involved.
It’s a mix between neo liberal/conservative war hawks and anti-west ideology. It’s incoherent, you can’t just mix and match propaganda and expect to arrive at the truth
Lord.
What I said is basically the geopolitical equivalent of “night comes after day”, lol.
What you said is the geopolitical equivalent of American Christian evangelicals insisting that the rapture is right around the corner, any day now, for the past 200 years.
?
Idk in which areas you’re informed and intellectually competent and honest, but this is not one of them. 😐
That’s right, they shouldn’t try to reverse course now. They should probably double down on Zionism and send more weapons to Israel and fully recognize Israeli ownership of all Palestinian territories.
You know what, they should probably send troops to participate in the genocide. Everyone knows if you’re wrong you can never stop being wrong or make make things right. You might as well lean in to whatever shitty thing you started with.
Yeah, that’s what I said… What an emotional and irrational response, lol. No, you and everyone else should condemn Zionism, Israel and all imperialistic Western geopolitical moves in earnest, and you should also never forget that even in the recent Israeli-American attacks on Iran the Brits were providing actual military support, for instance, and that your representatives aren’t just doing a 180 because they found God and believe in righteousness, lol. Reality is forcing their hand, and thank God for that because they don’t believe in doing the right thing, they never did and still don’t!
lol You nailed it kid
Fighting windmills and burying your head in the sand will only make the cognitive dissonance worse, but you do you, I guess.
