Poor Mr. Bonelli (at least his name checks out now).The 2nd panel isn’t in the hospital. It’s the substitute teacher’s basement.
I feel like a panel between 1 and 2 would help the clarity of the joke.
For better or worse, PBF tends towards subtle humor that makes you look back and forth at the panels a few times
But panel 1 and 2 aren’t really related. There’s no reason why the sub would be talking to the teacher in their hospital bed. All it needs is a student asking a question.
