      I mean, isn’t that politics in West Europe for the last 30 something years?

      I can’t remember the big parties ever truly following left ideas.

        Corbyn in the UK is the main counterexample I can think of, but even then that was for less than five years in opposition and with the entire political and media establishment conspiring to bring him down, including the right of his own party (and in fairness, he repeatedly shot himself in the foot and handed them easy wins).

          That’s my concern with him starting his own party. He will immediately be attacked by pretty much everyone and he is really really bad at countering that. He says he’s principled but principled people don’t become politicians you need to be a bit screwy in order to survive and succeed, and he doesn’t have that.

            Best if we just unconditionally support him.

            The fascists currently are good in making compromises, in order to later gobble up the compromisers.

            Maybe we need to do the same, but with our red line applying, of what we won’t compromise.
