One of the main difficulties in countering malign Russian influence stems from divergent understandings of hybrid warfare. Russia considers hybrid warfare a form of conflict which includes strategic uses of economic, diplomatic, and influence operations, along with the use of military forces and espionage. By contrast, the U.S thinks of hybrid warfare as actions or tactics used before a conventional war. While the U.S. thinks it is managing pre-conflict aggression, Russia already considers itself in the midst of a strategic battle disguised as competitive aggression.

I agree. Russian population does not have the Apple iPhone / Apple iPad / Samsung Android / etc addictions of USA. Russia has much more domestic control of media systems. So it isn’t possible to wage exactly same kind of war that the “Internet Research Agency” and Cambridge Analytica worked together on in late 2012 / early 2013.
Since year 2022 the IRA / CA content has all been fed into large language models as training material off the Internet. So Russia/Kremlin no longer controls this, and beyond the original 5,000 patterns the LLM systems can come up with any number of new variations. The only option is to teach “media ecology” and reason thinking to every person over say age 11 in society, a massive education campaign on how all people can distinguish fiction vs. non-fiction. Along the lines of Carl Sagan’s 1995 book.
People, all the people, have to abandon their addiction to mocking, mockery of out-groups. That is incredibly difficult, I strongly fear the USA will not recover and will continue to fall into more and more anti-human self-destructive anti-science behaviors, as defined by Carl Sagan in 1995 as it has since every year since 2013 when the “Putin Media Invasion” started.
I don’t see that. Joe Rogan said just last month that he would rather go to Russian than Canada. I do not see people responding with discussion about what is bad about Russia, morality of good and bad. I see people just LOL LOL LOL LMFAO “Joe Rogan dumb” LOL, inside the Kremlin 5,000+ simulacra patterns of meme-speak. Calling people dumb and stupid is just a cult of out-group hate, it isn’t actually teaching and educating. We need people to truly stop the mockery and focus on reality / truth / science, and morality of good. Not favoring “bad” like they are now.
