Maybe I should have explained my situation in my last post. I’ve been here for a few months now so I always just assume everyone knows my situation by now and would be bored or annoyed by me repeating it over and over, but here it is:

The reason I need help is because I’m a partially sighted cancer and stroke patient going through a disability benefit appeal. The local food bank gives nothing but tea, coffee, milk, sugar, cookies and the occasional loaf of bread, and it takes about two weeks to go through the process to get three days worth of food. Mutual aid is the only way I can manage to eat real food every day and buy toilet paper. I ask for supermarket vouchers for this because I prefer not to accept real money wherever possible because the DWP (British benefit people) will check my account if I win my appeal and I’ll have to explain any incoming money.

One person sent me a food voucher, thank you so much. If anyone else can help with another, details are below.

The other problem is that since my stroke I’ve been having a lot of pain and difficulty with walking. The stroke affected my left side and it’s so weak now that it’s constantly getting injured from every little thing. At a recent appointment the physiotherapist recommended an orthotic aid that could lessen my pain and improve mobility. However the NHS doesn’t pay for this, I have to buy it myself. The recommended one is £30, and it’s recommended to get one for each side (so £60) even though only my left side is weak. The NHS sells these directly to patients but I’ve got no way to pay for these myself.

I’ve not had any response at all to this request. I know it’s a lot of money in this economy but if several people could contribute anything towards them I might be able to get enough. For this I would need to receive actual money, but I’m so desperate to be in less pain and gain more mobility, I have no choice but to ask here. Moderator Pinning Rules:

Moderators are strictly prohibited from promoting/endorsing/pinning individual mutual aid requests (especially those of their own) as this creates unfair post visibility and could therefore benefit more from that than the standard user.
