You can be cis and take HRT too, technically. When you have anticonception, or take viagra, or for meno- and penopause – that’s technically HRT. Not as “replacing” as HRT though, but still.
I just heard a cis woman on a podcast talking about how when she searches for HRT for perimenopause she’s seeing a lot of renaming.
My grandma did this kind of menopause hrt and died as a result of a hormone-responsive cancer, and I inherited her genes 😭
You read eggmemes because you are an unrealised transperson
I read eggmemes because I need gender affirming care for my AAB gender, and an internet novelty topic addiction and this one is spewing content like nothing else , and I have no fucking idea what life is like for trans people, I mean, I do now, since I’ve read a shitload about it through this stuff, but whatever, at least it’s not the same depressing political shit being turned into memes for years on end.
We are not the same.
Me when I read the effects of HRT :3
Me when I experience the effects of HRT :3
Ain’t much I’m asking, if you want the truth
if it wasn’t for the boobs, I would like to try.
get hair again, better skin, less hair, multiple orgasms…
might end up as a cis man that has to wear a binder,
if it wasn’t for the boobs, I would like to try.
https://transfemscience.org/articles/serms-transfem/
If you just want to try it out, serms are an option. Not sure how good they are for long-term use though.
I’m always amazed on how science is advancing
Yeah. Its pretty cool. Not sure if there’s been much knowledge gains in the last 5 years since that was updated (seems like that blog hasn’t been active in a few years). Its been a while since I’d read much about them (since I opted by standard transfem HRT over a year ago instead of serms), so I forget what exactly I’ve read.
That blog tends to be conservative in recommendations from what I’ve seen, sometimes clashing with popular views (such as generally being negative towards prog except for use as an anti-androgen).
There’s finasteride, that could help for the head hair at least. Or hair transplantation.
For body hair there’s lasering. Skinwise, washing your body’s skin every (or every other) day, putting up moisturiser, and sunscreen, would help well. The moisturiser helps make it soft.
Only the multiple orgasms isn’t possible without HRT I think, but from what I know, it is not as strong as testosterone-based orgasming (I’d say about 60% as much, still nice though) – though it doesn’t have the “cooldown” period of feeling nasty when you continue pleasuring.
Every body is different though. Some people report increased libido on estrogen/testosterone-focused HRT, others reduced.
Who knows; maybe you’ll be part of the IBTC
There’s also effective hair preservation treatments that are just as if not more reliable than estrogen
I’m a big guy, already have breasticlea that are too big to be part of the IBTC.
and I’m too late for hair preservation.
even as a masc cis guy who mostly falls in the conventional binary. things would be much better if there was no rigid gender standard.
wow hrt sounds great 🤠 puts phone away and continues the rest of their day
Oh? I consider myself enby, I don’t have dysphoria and im comfortable as I was assigned, more or less, I just reject the binary’s validity. What can HRT do for me? (AMAB)
Im gonna warn you people though im married, asexual, and just discovered how to do eye makeup so if this makes me hotter, its your fault.
softer and less oily skin, decreased perspiration, different smell, stunted facial hair growth and halting to pattern baldness, fat redistribution to hips and thighs, boobs, decreased muscle mass, sexual sensitivity changes, a year or two to your lifespan on average(things like liver health are improved). There’s probably other stuff I’m forgetting, but those are some of the major changes from estrogen. You could always do TRT as an AMAB, but the downsides probably wouldn’t be worth it for most men.
If it wasn’t for the decreased muscle mass, I’d be so in. That’s the only thing that’s been holding me back (and insecurities about how my body would look tbh) because I like lifting heavy (and trauma from my teenage years is also really cool 👍)
We have been on estrogen for a while and really haven’t lost muscle mass, so it varies.
At least for me, the decreased muscle mass in 1.25 years hasn’t really made a functional difference as far as I can tell. But like, I’m not interested in lifting weights in the gym - I just want to be able to move the things I’ve been able to move. Also, as with all things HRT, YMMV. Some people notice muscle mass drops quite quickly.
Lifting weights is exactly what I like doing, unfortunately. My bench press progress is kinda stagnating at the moment and it’s the most frustrating thing.
It’s not like it becomes impossible to maintain or gain muscle on estrogen, you just need to put in more effort compared to people with higher testosterone levels.
I know plenty of built girls who started HRT and haven’t really seen any decline in over a year. It’s harder to build, but doesn’t go away overnight by any means.
but besides less oily skin, decreased perspiration, different smell, stunted facial hair growth and halting pattern baldness, fat redistribution to hip and thighs, boobs, decreased muscle mass, sexual sensitivity changes, a year or two of lifespan… what have the Romans done for us?
sounds incredibly hype, i’m in.
The effects you mention do indeed all occur and have been excellent for me thus far, although they sadly don’t fix the uterine dysphoria.
However, I thought that depending on the method of HRT, it may very slightly decrease liver health (not that significant compared to the enormous increase in mental health though!) ? For example, oral pills do have that effect, while sublingual, and needle, and gel have less of that downside.
It’s not like comparing gold to dirt, but gold to silver - at the end of day, monitoring it every once a while with a trusted doctor, should do fine with any of them, really.
And, the lifespan thingy…? Could you elaborate on that? I thought most of the difference in lifespan depended on having a double of the X chromosome (ie XX has fewer risks of malignant mutations expressing compared to XY), but when I think of eg. Klinefelter and the like, that doesn’t seem to hold – they don’t get a longer life expectancy or anything.
Correct me if I’m wrong, though.
Estrogen literally makes various systems in the body function better. Liver is one I looked into for personal reasons, and I learned that cis women have improved liver health compared cis men until menopause. On top of that, several animals have similar effects as a result of estrogen therapy. Hormones are basically a messenger telling the body what to prioritize, and estrogen overall favors maintaining health more than testosterone.
Then what does testosterone prioritise? Prowess and power?
Basically. Being stronger on average is nothing to scoff at.
Darn threadiverse reading my thoughts…
