What kind of bot enabled bullshit is this?
How on earth do you specify the situations in which a tenant isn’t entitled to the actual normal legal process to evict someone?
Is it merely the accusation that short circuits the normal legal procedures? Is it whether a cop who is normally the next best thing to a moron believes the accusation is credible or do we go through the actual legal process of proving guilt which actually takes longer than the eviction?
The accusation being sufficient would provide a get out of jail free card for literally every landlord.
The cop is a useless arbiter of fact. They are fundamentally unsuited to the task.
A criminal trial is unlikely to be short. The wheels of justice are slow.
The actual solution is to fully fund appropriate housing for those in crisis so that they don’t ever land on random bob who is ill equipped to deal with it. You also want to sufficiently fund and staff whatever court handles evictions such that it doesn’t take months to get on the docket. Neither is really incredibly hard or complicated they are just expensive. Other better countries don’t have the degree of challenge just like they don’t have classrooms full of kids full of bullet holes. We are stupid and your meme is stupid.
How about the fact that the “tenant” literally stole prescription medicine from an old lady. Once you steal, you have no reason to be in the house. They didn’t want to press charges, hell they didn’t even want the cops to be involved, they just wanted her gone. Ever since then she’s been making their lives fucking miserable. I have no sympathy for this woman at all, all she does is takes and threatens. You know this bitch literally threatened to call the grandma’s pain management Dr and lie to him that shes giving away pain meds? She’s still doing meth in their fucking house. Fuck her, she’s a worthless sack of shit and a waste of space and fuck the cops too for threatening an old lady and taking the side of a pilled out psycho over the literal home owner. Also, yeah, adorable housing is good and all, but unfortunately there’s not really much we can do in the situation. I don’t live in that town and my boyfriend and his grandma are barely getting by as it is, the only reason they have the house is because it’s been in the family for a while. And honestly, once she’s gone, I could care less about what happens to her, she can go live under a fucking bridge or on the street for all I care. And I know what you’re probably gonna say “oh, she’s addicted, she has a disease” fuck that, she’s still responsible for fir her actions, I’m fucking bipolar, I have a fucking disease, and I never pulled half the shit that she did, and if I did that would 100% be on me. I can feel sympathy for someone with an addiction, but all that shit disappears the moment they hurt others, especially people I care about.
I honestly don’t care if I’m a terrible person for feeling this way at this point, so if you’re thinking about trying to do some kind of guilt trip, it won’t work.
You can’t make law to fit one weird situation. Eviction is already the way to handle this.
Why should the law protect someone who didn’t even get a written lease agreement? If someone gets into an informal agreement without legal documentation and the homeowner decides that they want them gone, then the law should automatically side with the home owner and view the person staying there as simple a guest that overstayed their visit (or a potential trespasser). If you can’t get a contract, then you shouldn’t get the same legal protections as someone who did, the only actual right you should get in that situation is the right to leave the property with all your belongings, and the only time the law should be involved is if you need time to remove said belongings.
It would be insane if landlord tenant law didn’t apply to all landlords and tenants. You would see millions of low end rentals offered as informal rentals to avoid being bound by the law and millions of the poorest would lose basic protections and rights in order to protect one grandmother from exercising bad judgement.
If you don’t want the risk of being a landlord don’t be a landlord.
She wasn’t even trying to be a landlord, she was just trying to be nice and all she got in return was her pain meds being stolen and a methed out parasite being stuck in their home because of some bullshit legal loophole
Don’t evict, rehabilitate.
Addictions are vulnerable to healthy caring environments that actually address the underlying causes of addiction.
Fuck that, the bitch literally stole prescription drugs from an old woman that took her in
The meme is, presumably, about an old person having their meds stolen but since the thief left them money they’re now being prosecuted as a drug dealer, because cops basically never improve any situations they’re introduced to.
No, that’s definitely not what the meme is about.
It is about the police preventing an eviction because the tenant paid $60 in rent.
$60 in rent? Friend, the meme isn’t that old.
It doesn’t matter if it was paid in full, a payment was made. That’s like the whole point of the meme explicitly stating the amount
Nonononono the dress is black and blue brother, you got that completely wrong, if it was white and gold it would look completely different
That makes infinitely more sense. Don’t post when you first wake up, kids!
Huh, interesting.
I interpreted it as they provided a room to an addict (who paid them some money to stay in that room) who then took the medication due to their addiction.
It’s more that “they took in a woman to stay with them until she got her disability figured out, then she stole from them, then when they tried to get rid of her, she called the cops on them and now they have to put up with her” The moment she stole from them should’ve been the end of that, but now they’re essentially being held hostage by this woman until they go through the courts
You interpreted it correctly
It’s not that they’re being prosecuted, it’s more like the cops basically told her “tough shit, you gotta put up with her”
