I’ll caveat this with the fact that I do like lewis.
I think his quali pace is absolutely abysmal the past few years. But on Sundays he’s been pretty impressive still, often ending up beating his teammate (Charles or George), which is definitely impressive for his age.
I think he’s just lost his edge, and it’s probably time to call it. But, always a chance new regulation play more into how he wants to drive a car, so I guess gamble on that as Ferrari
Good grief. Never seen him this dejected.
I had hopes for him after the move to Ferrari. But it seems they were not to be. Ferrari are, and have been, a mid rank team for about twenty years. It was a step down for him.
I just hope that next year will be different. But who am I kidding. Eh?
Ferrari and Linux will dominate
It’s the year of the Ferrari desktop, I’m sure of it!
Complete with “we are checking” boot splash.
He ever recovered from the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. He not been the same driver since.
I’m convinced he’s never recovered fully from catching COVID.
Yes, yes you are. Sorry folks but without his shiny silver arrow, he is just another driver.
he used to be better than this. and it wasn’t just because he had a better car. he used to be a better driver.
Yup. There was a time when Ferrari was untouchable with objectively the best car. Hamilton (McLaren/Mercedes at the time) was the only one in the field who would regularly give Schumacher a run for his money. Everyone else was happy with third. What are you talking about? Schumacher retired from Ferrari in 2006, Hamilton came into F1 in 2007. And when Schumacher came back with Mercedes, he only had 1 Podium before retiring again.
My memory must be going. i confused him with Kimi raikkonen? I’m not even sure now lol.
Yeah I think you’re thinking of Raikkonen
This is F1 in a nutshell. The pool of drivers are all pretty good but they don’t really matter. Its all about the engineering and money.
when the other driver is consistently faster and even gets to pole position while you can’t even get out of q2 or q3 (last weekend)… then its time to realize that isn’t all about the machinery.
I don’t disagree, but his teammate did put it on pole. The driver has some impact.
I’m glad he finally realizes it. He needs to retire. It’s painful watching him.
If the figures of how much he makes as driver, brand ambassador, from various sponsorships, etc. are remotely true, he has 100 million reasons each year to cheer up.
yeah no kidding. probably one of the worst sports contracts in history. and the longer he keeps racing, the more he devalues his brand.
the longer he keeps racing, the more he devalues his brand.
When Hamilton thinks about whether racing under his current 100 million Euro/year contract devalues his brand:
my comment wasn’t aimed at how hamilton feels about it. it was aimed at how ferrarri feels about throwing away those shit tons of money when they already had a better, more consistent driver in sainz.
The Ferrari this year is ass, no way Sainz would be that much better. Hamilton is the most famous and recognizable figure in motorsport and he has been for 10+ years. Hell even if he finished last place in every race, he would still be bringing more money into Ferrari than if Sainz had the season of his life.
The Ferrari just got pole. your opinion is ass
The car kept going slower and slower as the race progressed 😭 Couldn’t even podium when it seemed impossible for them not to. I guess it’s not a complete shitbox, but their goal is to win. They’re leagues behind McLaren, it requires Leclerc heroics to get good results, and despite their infinite money and resources they haven’t won a single race. They are underwhelming to say the least.
And you’re acting like Sainz wasn’t comprehensively beaten by Leclerc when he drove for Ferrari. Sure, Hamilton is slow this year (and also comprehensively beaten by Leclerc). But as I’ve already said, Hamilton’s name alone is worth so much more than Carlos Sainz maybe beating Leclerc in a race and then losing to him in the championship.
