Ups and downs. Great grey owl chicks leave the nest before they can fly, so as a result they have an interesting relationship with gravity. This time, the poor thing plummeted to the forest floor.

Their legs are sooo long!
It’s always fun to get to see the full leg. The thigh is usually blended in with the body under the feathers. What we normally see is the fibula/tibia and the extra leg bones birds have, the tarsus.
Imagine if they ran like an ostrich.

I’ve seen owls and hawks do their running, and they’re not slow, but nowhere near ostrich levels. Much more bouncy as well.
