I used to support an artist who advertised the bandcamp Fridays as the best time to support them. I don’t buy from bandcamp anymore but ill do it on bandcamp Friday for the stuff i can’t find elsewhere (like qobuz)
I don’t trust Bandcamp. They’re a corporate site, still early in the enshittification cycle, and I’m sure you know people who trusted Facebook and Google when they first came out and later got screwed over.
But we post a lot of bandcamp links in this community bc a lot of good artists use it and it’s still not too bad. All I’m saying is IF you buy stuff on Bandcamp, this Friday August 1st is a good time to do so, bc Bandcamp says on that day “we waive our revenue share and pass the funds directly to artists & labels” meaning the musicians get more of the money than they ordinarily would.
Anyway, thanks to my cousin for help with this meme. I wanted to make a meme but couldn’t think of a good format so I asked cuz for help. They were like: how about the blue grinch knee surgery format? I was like: that’s hilarious. But blue grinch isn’t really a goth-industrial vibe. Maybe monochrome? Then I figured I should just pick a scene from a movie, so I took one from The Crow. I think Brandon Lee would be OK with promoting musicians getting more money.
Do you need to trust it though? Since you can download the music in FLAC, you have nothing to lose no matter what happens to the platform.

I think there’s a bandcamp-like fediverse project, but I don’t remember what it was… and I think it was early and there weren’t that many artists on it yet…
