    Well they were not a monolithic block obviously, but overall there was a lot of popularity for enlightenment philosophy in the ranks the nobility. Particularly the younger ranks. Enlightenment philosophy was very popular among the salons of the. You must remember that the Revolution was driven in large part early on by those “enlightened” nobles. People like the Duke de Orleans, Marquis de Lafayette, Mirabeau, and more. In a lot of ways the French Revolution was an aristocratic Revolution at its beginning, and arguably always was.
