Inspired by a post as I read while working an odd job to help pay the bills in my home: https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/38653075?scrollToComments=true
I’m just reminded of how on Mastodon there was the #MastodonForHarris tag where people showed that they donated hundreds of dollars to Harris when she didn’t need it.
When people asked “Why are you donating to her, she doesn’t need your money, she is backed by the party. Why not donate to charity or your fellow mastodon people?” people said they couldn’t be sure of the truth of people who were asking for $5.
And then the libs changed it to #Mastodon4Harris when people kept calling out how they have the money for donating to rich politicians but not for low income human beings.
Sure and I agree, I personally voted for Harris and while I wasn’t the biggest fan of her, I would have prefered her in office compared to Trump and Musk. Harris probably wouldn’t have basically hollowed out the EPA/FDA.
Agreed. She spent a lot of money from companies and lobbyists on her campaign and she didn’t need some random person on Mastodon/Twitter/Whatever giving her $100. If she talked about the polices people actually liked and didn’t court over the Chaney’s we might have her in office now.
I don’t honestly. When people on Mastodon said “How do you have $100 to a politician who will never know you exist but not $10 for a person you follow on Mastodon?” liberals then complained and blocked and moved to a new hashtag to dodge being questioned. And then doubled down by blocking tags and people while saying they were doing the right thing and ignored the people who were needing help with rent and medical costs.
I donated $2 to Bernie personally, mainly because he refused to take SuperPAC and lobbying money. Harris and Biden had no issues with that and had enough money to win elections and run campaign ads. But also I agree my personal $2 would have been better spent on someone near me that day.
