You’re right that we need to weigh these types of crimes, and their scale is not an excuse to bury our heads in the sand.

It’s also good for things like chili or dark stews (~1-2tbsp for the entire pot), which tend to have enough strong flavors involved that absolutely awful coffee doesn’t overpower them. I know that sounds iffy, but it’s good.

It’s difficult for me to weigh crimes at this scale. Would it be worse to kill 80% of Chinese people or all Brazilians? Many more people would die in the former situation, but a culture would be more fully erased in the latter. Obviously there’s some subjectivity involved, so I’m not looking for an answer, it’s just hard for me to actually grasp the enormity of these types of crimes.

And heterosexual doesn’t mean you refuse to ever have sex with people of your gender, it means you’re not attracted to them. Sometimes people have sex that they realize they don’t like, and they are able to form a more complete picture of their sexuality through that.

I don’t like mushrooms though. Like the person I responded to wishes they were less straight, I wish I did like mushrooms, in my case because it would be more convenient to be able to cook with more ingredients.

Once during the early pandemic, I inadvertently received 12 pounds of frozen broccoli from a grocery delivery (~5,5 kilos). I have never been too full for a piece of broccoli, and didn’t have the space in my freezer for all of it, so I decided to make a huge amount and see how much I could actually eat.

I made 6 pounds (roasted with spices and a little olive oil) and ate it all without issue. I honestly could have eaten more, but I was a little worried about causing myself digestive issues. I didn’t have any, even though doing the math, I was over 4% broccoli afterwards.

I’ve never been a mushroom fan, but every 5-10 years, I taste them again to see if my tastes have changed, though they never do. Does that mean I do in fact like mushrooms?

Actually scratch that question - it’s not a decision that anyone but the person in question can make. Correcting someone about their orientation is a major overstep.

I just learned about Jen Shah today, and I’m astounded that even a single person wanted to watch a show called “real housewives of Salt Lake City.” It just sounds like an hour of herbal tea and jello making led by 22 year olds with three children.

That list is almost exclusively old fashioned names, which, combined with the website name makes me wonder if they’re scraping obituaries for the names. I’ve lived here for most of a decade and I’ve never met a Wolfgang or Ursula under 60 (actually of the top ten, I only know young people named Michael, Peter, Thomas, and Maria). I do know several older Wolfgangs and Helgas, so they certainly were common names at one point-the data might just be 80 years delayed. Actually going through it, all of my husband’s older family members’ names are in the top thirty. (Edit: also no idea how accurate this list is, but the most popular names from the 50s are all the same as on the other list, so I suspect it is just gathering data upon death)

I know at least five Daniels in their 20s and 30s though. I’m a) an immigrant, and b) just going off of my own experience, so take that with a grain of salt.

Quick aside about Maria as a man’s name: it’s traditionally Austrian, afaik, and it’s more commonly a second name (like Rainer Maria Rilke), but there’s no chance that 0% of the Marias in Germany are men.

I’d already learned German, but I did begin as an adult and I’ve got C2 German, so it’s not impossible.

It’s honestly just who I am, I don’t understand moderation. I’m from the US and moved to Germany, and it’s exploited a lot less, which is nice, but I either give everything or nothing.
