Try shopping around for different instances, the one you’re on can actually see a huge number of communities that accounts on Lemmy.world can’t see, as an example. One of the better ways to use Lemmy is to either scroll an instance you vibe with locally, or by using a broad account and browsing by subscribed communities.

USSR, PRC, Cuba, Vietnam, Laos, Nicaragua, Venezuela, etc. were all won through revolution and working class organization. Even then, my point was clearly about the necessity of organizing. It is through working class organizing that politicians and the capitalist class are threatened into giving concessions, not through passively voting for sloganeers and other charlatans.

The analysts are wrong, as I explained. Wikipedia does indeed refuse to take a stance on most things, it’s a terrible source for political history and current events. Sometimes the sources can be nice, but often they are terrible.

I’ve already explained, using the definition Wikipedia gives, Russia does not fit that. Wikipedia is not written by a single person, nor do the analysts that claim Russia is imperialist write the definitions given by Wikipedia as their claimed definition. It’s also possible for someone to give a definition, have that definition not apply to something, yet still have that same person incorrectly apply it. Moreover, Wikipedia is saying some analysts, not even taking a definitive stance itself.

Wikipedia is indeed popular in the west. So is Fox News and CNN, NYT, etc. That doesn’t mean they are correct or valid.

Yes, anarchists have had some degree of localized success, but the scale and longevity of Marxist projects speaks more to its own successes over anarchism, not simply the popularity of ideas.

It’s not about being common, it’s about being tested in reality and affirmed by it.

In general, Marxism-Leninism has been the most successful in establisbing socialist states and uplifting the lives of the people. On top of that, its theoretical groundings have been most consistently affirmed by testing in reality.
