Sounds like you are trying to use the “force compatibility” option inside of Steam? I switched out to Linux a few weeks ago. Installed Steam, initially thought I had to tell it what version of Proton to use for each game. Found that I was better off ignoring it, not using any forced compatibility option, and let Steam figure it out. My games run with very few issues that way. I just make sure I have the latest nvidia drivers, which it appears you do. Hope you get it running.

Star Blazers for the dubbed version shown in the US. The local Fox broadcast channel where I lived used to play episodes back in the early 80s. I dont know what reminded me of the show, but looked it up and watched the whole series a few years ago on Crunchy Roll.

EchoCranium@lemmy.zipOPto 3DPrinting@lemmy.world•Slicer software for a Linux system?English2·7 days agoThat sounds like another possible option. I did see there was an Orca package for Arch; I would like to keep running Orca since I’m used to it, so going with an Arch distro might be the way to go.

I ran it on a Frankenstein’s monster of really old computer parts I cobbled together as a PC for my work room. Mainly just to stream music and reference videos online while doing projects.
EchoCranium@lemmy.zipOPto 3DPrinting@lemmy.world•Slicer software for a Linux system?English2·7 days agoYep, downloaded the flatpack from Ubuntu repository. Sounds like folks are having similar issues with Orca, Cura, possibly Prusa if I remember what I read correctly. Since AnyCubic is a fork from Orca, not surprised it’s plagued with the same problems.
EchoCranium@lemmy.zipOPto 3DPrinting@lemmy.world•Slicer software for a Linux system?English1·7 days agoThanks for the link. If Orca will run fine under Ubuntu, I may just switch over to that instead. I’m not hugely invested in Kubuntu yet, so it won’t be painful to do. Installing Ubuntu inside a Docker container inside of Kubuntu, just to run Orca, seems too matryoshka-ish for me.
I have no idea what coffee shop it was, just some random place my wife and I stopped at while traveling. But yeah, the mocha with cinnamon and cayenne is great, especially on cool and rainy days. The heat from the spice adds to the warmth of the drink.
I’ll occasionally make up coffee in the morning with chocolate, cinnamon, and a few shakes of cayenne pepper. Coffee shop I went to once did the same thing, called it an Aztec Mocha. Very good.
EchoCranium@lemmy.ziptoMicroblog Memes@lemmy.world•The secret ingredient is crimeEnglish3·8 days agoOnce you have a printer, there are repositories online with models for just about anything. I’ve used Printables, and Thingiverse is another option. Someone may have already solved your problem by posting a usable model, just need to print your own part. Otherwise you can design one. Been using Solid Edge from Siemens, they have a free version for makers. Also used FreeCAD in the past, which worked, but wasn’t happy with it. It now has a 1.0 release though, so probably worth trying out. They’re going to require spending some hours learning to do designs properly, but once you figure it out you can sketch up all kinds of great things. I love being able to send my parts through the slicer software, then over to the printer, and out comes what I want. Learning CAD, or modeling software like Blender, gives you a lot more options with your printer.
Design issue. The job of quality is to ensure that the item has been manufactured to meet all design criteria. A product with flaws in the design affecting the end user can still be made to high quality standards.

Haven’t gone in decades, since I grew up and moved away from the state. Something about how the burger was seasoned, just delicious. Nowadays I usually stop by Culver’s for a double deluxe, now that there’s one not far from the house (did earlier today, actually).
EchoCranium@lemmy.zipto Games@lemmy.world•Abiotic Factor review - Abiotic Factor is an instant survival classic, and one of the best games I've played in years.English5·21 days agoI enjoyed playing this after it launched, great game with potential. My only complaint was the Ground Hog Day effect with monster spawns. You’d run into the same critters, in the same locations, over and over again. I figured the game was pretty new at the time, and hoped the devs would eventually randomize spawns to make it less monotonous. If they have, may need to start up a new game.
Fuck, that’s amazing! That guy is pretty impressive.
Installing on the second drive (your Western Digital nvme drive) should leave Windows intact on the first drive. You’ll have to go into Bios setup when you restart, then pick the WD drive to be prior to the drive with Windows on it in the boot order.
I would choose the Erase Disk option using your WD nvme drive. That should fully reformat the drive for use. I installed Kubuntu on an external ssd just over a week ago. Using it to run my desktop system, and liking it for the most part. Want to make a full switch if I can resolve a couple issues. Hope it goes well for you!
First thing, change the sign up front to “Ripley’s Believe It or Not” so people will know they’re going to see a mix of facts with some crazy make-believe bullshit.
